So another bank, Signature bank, has been closed down.

That makes 3 in a week if u include Silvergate Bank!

And secondly very likely 50 bps hike is off the table next week. Maybe even no hike like GS perdicting.

Paying the bank depositors means buying the back the bank bonds i.e. QE which leads to inflation.

Something they have no choice but to do to be profitable. Coz short term T Bills were near zero rate for a long time.

So say if you can buy a 1 year US Treasury at 5% yield

Worse case, in a year, you make 5%. You might lose potential for higher upside in other things,but 5% not bad.

Best case, u make 5% and we are in deep recession or recovering from one.

But i bet they dont want to lose face on this war on inflation thing. So they will.hike one more time.
