DCA is the worst skill set to ever have cos it allows the user to be in self denial mode whenever they are wrong.qqqqqq

You can buy up but that's an extremely difficult skillset to develop and if done wrongly end results is even far more damaging.

If one had to address the situation where one is offered the opportunity to buy the stock they hold at a cheaper price, one really needs to address the situation sensibly.
Cause in reality, what it is saying the stock one bought is losing money.

Questions that needed to be asked.

Was the buying wrong? (wrong stock? right stock, badly wrong price?)
Whatever the reason, it is simple...
one farked up.

which is why one is losing money....

in which averaging down (or using DCA as the cover-up) is required.......

but yeah...

everyone got plenty of reasons excuses....

for example... the drastic rise in inflation plus the Fed decision to increase rates drastically caused the stock to tank...

well... in one sense, it is true... cos that's what happened...

BUT.... why wasn't this part of the reason not to buy/sell the stock in the first place? Was this issue avoidable? If it was, then perhaps there was no reason to hold/buy the stock. Which then renders the need to do the suicide Averaging Down....

but then.... lol... past market trends did a major DAMAGE to proper reasoning... cos every market dip was bought aggressively previous couple of years.
Hey... forget not... that's the characteristic of a raging bull market.

but when market changes..... these dips easily turned into big deepers. (this never fails in the long run!)

so yeah... mindset gets corrupted... gets complacent... thinking every dip is a buy (ie DCA la or Averaging DOWN or TOPPING UP or BUYING more... )

p/s .... if you look at say... TopGlove... have a look at the boss personal buying of TG shares....
well... he started buying for his personal account since Dec... (started at around 6.92)
and he has been buying constantly...
even until lately...

exactly like DCA no? Share falls, he keeps buying and buying... share falls more, he buys more...

result so far? last I recall, more than 200 million in losses.

but 2 things to learn from this....

1. Big shareholder buys, DOESN'T mean one must follow.... (why? your bolded part above.. hehe)

2. don't average down.

LOL! Doesn't matter what he saw, does it? Price now 80 sen plus versus when he started topping up his shares at 6.90.

110% proof that AVERAGE DOWN does not work.
