I recently went from 10Mbps to 30Mbps, which came with the change of equipment so the old DIR-615 got replaced with DIR-850l. Everything is much faster aside from some hiccups now and then on computers but mobile connectivity went to the gutter. Googling takes about 30 to 40 seconds and maybe a retry or two, battery dies super fast due to wakelocks and it's better to leave it off wifi due to how crappy everything is when connected.
Anyone have the same problem?

QUOTE(jack2001 @ Jun 27 2016, 12:08 AM) I am pretty certain this is more of your mobile device's issue than the router's. Your router has nothing to do with your phone's wakelock. I'm pretty certain connecting to wifi is the cause of it, apparently Google Play Services, Gmail and some other stuff go crazy and pretty much keeps my phone awake all the time. It doesn't happen when off wifi or before the 30Mbps upgrade. Seems to happen to all mobile devices in the house, I never use my tab before the upgrade and one charge usually lasts about a month, post-upgrade and it dies in a day. QUOTE(soonwai @ Jun 27 2016, 12:16 AM) Are you on 2.4 or 5GHz when the problem occurs? Some installers like to separate the wifi and some not. In my uncle's house, the installer setup the same SSID for both freqs. My phone preferred connecting to 5Ghz and it was just not good enough for the whole house. So we separated them and connected only to the 2.4Ghz SSID and that pretty much covered the whole house with adequate signal. The SSID is the same for both and it happens on both 2.4 and 5GHz. QUOTE(soonwai @ Jun 27 2016, 01:47 AM) How do you tell which channel the device is on if the SSIDs are the same? And it's happening in areas where you're confident that you have good signal from the router? Have you looked into interference from neighbours? The only thing I can think of is that your phone is sending a lot of retransmits which uses up battery. The router isn't receiving as well as the DIR-615. Adjust its location, change channels are some of the usual things to try. Do your testing one frequency at a time so you have fewer variables. Android can choose which band it connects to under advanced wifi setting, at least mine does. I tried replicating the settings of the old DIR-615 router onto the DIR-850l so no 5GHz but nothing seems different.

QUOTE(soonwai @ Jun 29 2016, 04:08 PM) Nice, I can't tell on my iPhone, that's why I always have separate SSIDs. Maybe time to take a step back and see what's going on. Suggest you reset the router, configure from scratch with 2.4Ghz only (or 5GHz only) and test again. If still problem, maybe router hardware fault. Could be just a loose antenna cable. Happened to me before. Tried changing back to the old DIR-615 and problem solved, the new one's probably busted. I'm going to reset it like you said but I'm not exactly sure how the process would go. Mainly worried about the HyppTV stuff. edit: well that went quickly, though faster than before, still feels kind of slow compared to DIR-615. QUOTE(kevin23 @ Jul 10 2016, 11:48 AM) Guys i am on unifi 30, recently they came and change my router to the new d link 850 router.,black cylinder type. Problem is, when i connect to my laptop thru wifi, it works fine. But when i connect to the wifi on any mobile device, the speed is extremely slow. Anyone encounter this b4? It takes about 10seconds to load a simple webpage. But on laptop, totally no issues. I have tried it with a few hps and all the same issue. I have the same exact problem! Use another router for a temporary fix.

QUOTE(kevin23 @ Jul 15 2016, 07:03 PM) Went from 10Mbps to 30Mbps, so I just used the old orange DIR-615 to replace the new one. On a related note, I tried disabling IPv6 on the DIR-850L and things seem a lot faster now on mobile, you might want to try that out first.

QUOTE(kevin23 @ Jul 17 2016, 08:40 AM) Hw to disable ipv6? The old orange router the TM guy took back. It also had problems giving 30mbps speed. I did speed test and it only got 10-15mbps on the orange router. Currently, the problem is i use chrome browser and it totally cant load at all. But i use UC Browser, and it loads the page. Settings > Wizard > yada yada until there's an option to disable IPv6
