Hey guys,

recently I upgraded my net to 100mb from 2mb(maxis) and had gotten a good speed until I noticed that the wifi is not far enuff (can't reach 2nd floor of my house) and the connection sometimes disconnects at times.

so here is my question, is there a possibility that the unifi's router could be bottleneck the connection itself? and if it is, what other router that I can opt out for?

Thanks in advance

If it's a big house, it's probably a wifi signal problem. What router are you using now?

currently using whats provided by the unifi standard router. My other router for maxis is still working fine with wifi tho (my dad kept the maxis line too since if tm is down, maxis line can cover).

any recommendation for the other good router?

The Unifi standard router is actually very good already. Don't really see a need to buy another one.

Check out this thread for some tests I did with the "unifi standard router".

Hey guys,

My parents just applied 100mbps unifi and they're using wifi since the TV is in the area of dining table on the 2nd floor and their room in first floor. (they're not strong enuff to walk up stairs)

Run some tests and found out that they've been using 10-20% of the speed from their wifi. Even after the unifi guy came and switch it to the "further channel" of the wifi (his words not mine).

So my question is what kind of affordable router should I go for?

ps: my mom hates messy cable lying around the floor (she always trip on it) , is why they use wifi

You missed the WS880 deal for RM199. Still got thread here someone wanna sell for higher price though. Unfortunately if you really need strong connection can't really go for 'affordable' router.

Alternative is to buy a simple router and put it near to them by using a very long LAN cable (go through the corners so that not in the way).

thanks for the reply i went with tp-link and decided that I will use the new router as router extension. So far it works great.
