Great to see Kratos back, but 2 concerns:
1) The combat looks very simplistic, boderline boring.
2) That kid won't last 2 chapters lol.

QUOTE(squall_12 @ Jun 14 2016, 01:25 PM) 1) The combat looks very simplistic, boderline boring. - hopefully they will reveal more on the combat as of now yes is very simple Haha I'm just joking on the 2nd concern.2) That kid won't last 2 chapters lol. - hope is not like what u said as i looking forward to play as kratos son not kratos That said, there needs to be something that triggers Kratos anger. His son dying because he's a wimp and Kratos keep pushing him to be strong but ultimately couldn't, sounds like a logical plot point. |

QUOTE(silvertoes @ Mar 20 2018, 05:18 PM) Hi guys, this is kinda noob question.. i want to buy the limited edition of the GOW, but Sony Malaysia apparently will not bring it in.. Assuming you don't have a UK PSN account yet, create one. so im gonna get it from UK.. i know that i definitely will be able to play the game with the disc, but will i get to claim the DLC's that comes with it though? - Make it as one of the primary accounts on your PS4. - Then claim the DLC through the UK PSN (the DLC is region locked to redemption) - You can then access the DLC through your other PSN accounts on the PS4 as long as your UK PSN account remains on the console |

QUOTE(piano_freak @ Apr 12 2018, 04:07 PM) You will. It's a different setting, different story. Some sidequests and a little bit of the main story will make some references to the previous games, but they serve more as "fan service" than actually being vital to the story. |

A rather obvious downgrade in physics simulation on fur (keep an eye on Atreus fur vest), hair (Kratos beard, the giant's beard, white deer's fur) and leaves/trees. The hair quality on the white deer near the end of the video also exhibits a lower poly count and simpler pass. The volumetric lighting has also been altered. It's changed so that SSR (screen space reflection) can be more prevalent in the final version. DOF quality on the final version also receives higher sample passes than the E3 2016 trailer. Most other differences are otherwise an art direction change rather than a downgrade for performance reasons. |

QUOTE(dark_heart07 @ Apr 22 2018, 02:04 PM) Bro, there is a "classic" controls in the options. Switch to that instead, square and triangle makes the game more intuitive IMO. R1/R2 is just so soulsborne, which I understand why they went that route because there is no jump button in this game. This post has been edited by SSJBen: Apr 23 2018, 04:02 PM |

Seems that barely anyone even mention anything about the hidden audio quality in GoW and only focus on its visuals. Such a shame.
My review on that is; + The lowest point that this game goes down to is 17hz. There is quite a bit of content that resonates at the 20~26hz frequency, which means good amount of LFE. + This game is a midbass monster, mixed extremely loud at the 50-100hz region. It's insane! + Dialogue clarity is great, not as good as Yakuza 6 though. Bonus when the Sea Serpent spoke, it was F&@!# loud and its voice went down to an insane 40hz! OMG. + Surround mixing is very good. Lots of ambient noises, not overly done - just enough to immerse you in the area. Bonus points of the great implementation of reverb in specific areas. + Soundtrack has hymn waves that goes down to 30hz. Pulsating my couch like there's a giant horn underneath. - Wished the game had Dolby Atmos support. Using my receiver's upmixing option (Dolby Surround Upmixer) was good, but not great. --- To me it really changes the game, when you literally feel the trolls smashing their stone pillars on the ground, it creates a sense of shock. It's simply different of just looking at it and go like "eh okay, he angry, he smash his pillar, yay?". When the Sea Serpent emerged for the first time (no spoilers really, it's almost on every trailer) - it felt like the waves were smashing and crushing against the walls in my room. When it spoke, I could feel my couch vibrate (thus my lower spine) and it created a sense of awe. It didn't just look big on screen, it sounded and felt HUGE. Easily one of the best sounding games in history. A lot of this game can only be literally "felt", not typically heard and most importantly not seen - a shame because the audio engineers put a lot of work into making a game that crushes like a tank, but majority won't be able to experience it. QUOTE(KingArthurVI @ Apr 25 2018, 11:06 PM) Anyone's PS4 Pro struggling to stay at a steady frame rate when outputing at 4K? My FPS fluctuates a lot and it's giving me a terrible headache Lower the motion blur to 6 or so. 10 is simply just headache inducing. If you're going to play on performance mode, motion blur should be entirely disabled or be 3 at max. Patch 1.14 also improved 4k30 mode a little bit, at least in areas with a lot of alpha effects going on. QUOTE(~C.W.S~ @ Apr 26 2018, 10:53 AM) Totally agree with your points on audio work Not to shoot on you or anything, but if you can - try and experience the game once on a full range dedicated audio system. The experience is hard to put into words. I'm getting internal organ massages every night, a headset can't do that. |

QUOTE(keanyao @ Apr 30 2018, 02:34 PM) 45-55fps vs 30fps locked. That's a difference, but I wouldn't say it's drastic since the framerate is all over the place.That said, cb4k vs 1080p on a 4k screen is very noticeable. |

Valkyries are quite easy once you understand that every Valkyrie has a moveset of 5 generic moves that they share with one another and 1 unique move for each of them. Every move is quite easily telegraphed and really, the difficulty lies in the form that they do a lot of damage rather than their moves being difficult to read.
All the Valkyries are fairly easy save for the last one. |

I usually just block to reduce damage. If you throw your axe for a critical hit on the head, the next hit is GUARANTEED as long as you throw it when the Valkyrie falls to the ground. Free damage. Using Atreus arrows is an alternative if your reactions are super slow, but the damage is low in comparison. The radius of the AOE flash is quite wide, so why even put yourself in the position to block against it in the first place? It's extremely reactable, just pay attention. |

QUOTE(Mikeyz @ May 20 2018, 12:43 PM) Hey guys ,just want to know which legendary armor sets you would craft during your journey of GOW gameplay ? Wear whatever that suits your gameplay style. I'm glad the game doesn't artificially lock you with one "best" armor only. You can technically wear Kratos default armor and still beat the game if you're good enough.1. Traveler sets 2. arcane Might sets 3. True Worrior sets 4. Protection sets 5. Vigor sets Or should I just keep whatever materials and use whatever armor I can find from chest unlock during the game? Still a long way for me as I just started the journey THE SICKNESS |

QUOTE(kimtek @ Aug 20 2018, 10:49 AM) Ya smart one. I know you are a reviewer. Been reading your posts quite a few, and would rather say you are an egoistical dude.. you like to shove ur perspective into one's throat. You can express ur professional pov, but do it decently. I didn't even use a single bit of my opinion in quoting your post. Show me where I even said anything that implies "shoves your perspective into one's throat"? All I did was quoted your post and refuting it with another sentence in YOUR OWN POST. In case it isn't clear enough for you; you were basically CONTRADICTING YOUR OWN OPINION. I was simply pointing it out. *EDIT* Yes, I AM an egoistical person. Ask around, it's not new. I am blunt with my opinions because I'm sick of hypocrites back pedaling on everything they say. QUOTE(kimtek @ Aug 20 2018, 05:39 PM) wow.. the self-denial and self delusional is high on this one. And here I thought I had to write some 200 words essay to counter your argument, but you did it for me on your own accord with your own words by proving my point. Thanks.your opinion on my previous statement is "stupid'. so what makes you think that 'I didn't even use a single bit of my opinion in quoting your post." just because one does not like the game as you do, you started name calling (eg. stupid, hypocrite). oh great number 1 reviewer sure GOW has many weapons/ skills that i do not bother to learn (because I am such a lazy a-hole), because I do not particularly enjoy such gameplay.. simply put, I find this game bit overrated for a simple-minded gamer like me. so, you are pissed-off. A; Oh i really like hawaii pizza B; oh i dont like it cause it has pineapple on it A; oh you are a hypocrite that contradicts your own opinion, and ur statement is full of stupidity. anyway, i wont reply to you anymore..because, this will never come to an end based on your 'i am always right cause i have been reviewing games since ages' attitude. tl,dr: one man's meat is another man's poison. GOW is excellent for you, but for me GOW is an OK game cause of the reasons i stated . so get over it. there is no right or wrong. Just take 2 minutes to re-read what you typed lol. If you still don't understand, then welp... I can't help stupidity. Oh and btw, I didn't even like GoW that much to call it my "own meat" just in case you were still presuming. We need people like him to appraise games. Thanks for the vouch bro. Good ol' times. My eyes are too naive to detect the significant differences between graphical prowess of a pro and normal. I enjoy games as much as I enjoy platting it. GOW was an experience of a lifetime. As much as I love it, I do miss the ultra violence that was the hallmark in the trilogy. Kratos was the ultimate antihero, the icon we deserve and badly need in the midst of all the protagonist in a game. I think Greek mythos simply have more characters fleshed out vs Norse. It's like comparing Chinese mythos to Japanese mythos too, the Chinese have a lot more mythical characters than the Japanese. This post has been edited by SSJBen: Aug 28 2018, 02:58 AM |
