Hi fellow forumers,

Would like to know how many Malaysian users for this Speedify service. Due to the limited broadband choices that I have in my area, I have to rely on Speedify to improve my internet experience. Currently bonding 2 x 2Mbps and 1 x 1Mbps Streamyx. It's been a godsend so far where I can reach a maximum of 5Mbps connecting to Singapore Speed servers. However, I'm unable to enjoy local streaming providers like iFlix due to it's recognizing my IP is not based in Malaysia.

I've been requesting Speedify team to add Speed server in Malaysia since last year but it is still not happening. I'm supposed the user base here isn't enough to make it happen. Another factor that I suspect is the hosting market in Malaysia is with crappy offerings where unlimited bandwidth is scarce. Anyway, if you're Speedify users, let's band together to see if we can convince them.

My current setup:
I'm using PiPo X7S as the dedicated computer to run Speedify, added a few more LAN ports and WiFi adapters to it for Speedify to bond the connections, I'm also using two Huawei E398 (Maxis and Celcom) to add as backup connections if all my Streamyx died. I then use Connectify to share the bonded connection to all the devices in my house.

Load balancer vs Speedify:
- Load balancer cannot achieve combined speed if application do not support multi-threaded connections
- Speedify combined all connections to a Speed server (similar to VPN concept) and give you full speed of your combined connections

Well, I'm starting to sound like a salesman for Speedify but ignore all the sales pitch, I just want a local Speed server so that I can view local streaming content that are IP restricted.

Verdict (or whatever you think it is):
Everyone else has fibre connection up to 500Mbps or even Gbps. That's really great for you and I envy you.
I'm stuck at this house and am desperate for better internet experiences. I'm willing to pay a little extra (currently paying more than RM500/month for the outcome of unlimited 5Mbps) to achieve a fraction of what most of you are enjoying.

So how did speedify works with multiple connection? How do you connect multiple streamyx connection to your computer when it only had one LAN port?

Better unsubscribe the speedify and go get a load balance router. Problem solved.

A load balancer will not give me the combined speed of all my connections if the application that we're using do not support multi-threaded connections. One popular example would be Youtube. Basically, most of the streaming services do not support multi-threaded connections as far as I know.

Oh, what I know is that speedify combines all of your connections too.

You are making me confused here.
Are you referring to Load balancer or Speedify? Both combines the connections, but they each works differently.

As I know, speedify or so-called switchboard (before they rename to speedify) is very slow, by it self, it's consume data more than vpn connection.
They call their server as speed server, but then their server had no speed (slow).
very high latency & not responsive & high packet lost.

If you want real network bonding, i prefer qBalancer, 1st device install at datacenter 1000mbps or etc.
You had option to rent a server or space Here
and your house install 2nd qBalancer with multiple sucks ISP and connected to the 1st qBalancer, that's will make you better speed and more reliable.

You are right! I've been their Kickstarter supporter since Switchboard until they ditched the crowdfunding and changed their model to subscription based. The performance was not usable at the time but they've improved over time. I'm a happy user now, at least at sub-10Mbps connections, I can't say for combined connections that are more than that.

At least, now I can enjoy full HD Youtube Streaming without much buffering and wait. Try to imagine trying to load it with a 2Mbps Streamyx connection.

True network bonding is a dream for me but with the limited options available at my house and the costs for it is too much for a typical consumer, it is beyond most reach.

Specify is doing bonding not load balancing.

Load balance router has a function to aggregate the speed from different ISP. Refer to this page pls.

As maxcheam already said, load balancing does not speed up a single TCP connection activity like a traditional FTP or HTTP download.

Yup, I know. At first, I thought that what he wants is just a combine connection. But then, he says it isn't suit for him. Follow the sequence pls. I'm not to be offensive.

For my understanding, Streamyx can be made to 4mbps if you rasuah to the technical.
My friend told me he enjoy 4mbps and he paying RM88 per month only.
Till now he still enjoy, and he had no plan to upgrade to unifi or others.

why don't play it big by rasuah the technician for 8mbps?

Thanks for the tips! I've tried, forcing my port speed to 4Mbps but the connection is very unreliable. Thus, have to revert back to the maximum speed that the area can support which is 2Mbps.

I was one of the Maxis legacy unlimited users where I don't have to worry about the speed and quota. But everyone knows the story, good things never last, now I'm stuck with the only wired unlimited service provider in my area. I think I've tried every possible channels I can find be it official or "unofficial".

I guess another option is to find someone from an apartment across the street to share their fibre connection via a long range WiFi link. Anyway, I'll explore this in the future but for now, still nobody using this Speedify service? I guess we won't have the bargaining chips to demand for a local speed server.

It's depend your location had 8mbps port or not

It's an old package, my hometown still paying RM88 for 4Mbps

so if the area don have 8mbps port, still can get over 8mbps?

yes, you'll need to combine multiple internet connection to make it happen.

can combine maxis 3G and celcom 3G together?

yup, it supports 3G/LTE as well.

1 house can have more than 1 streamyx account?

i somehow managed to get. I'm not sure if there's any restrictions. didn't apply all together though..

I installed this before.
- webe connected to desktop using pdanet via usb cable
- selkom connected to desktop using wifi via wifi adapter

Speedify detected both usb n wifi
But when combine speed, the speed looks like running from 1 source.

From the graph i can see both running.
If webe is 5mbps, selkom is 5mbps, i should get 10mbps right ?

are you by any chance connected to Webe's 3G? If yes, the webe connection might be sharing the same tower as Celcom and thus there might be some kind of QoS in place.

mobile broadband are unpredictable. from my experience, it takes a little more time to get use to each networks and optimize the speed from both telcos. Wired broadband on the other hand, it's obvious and you can notice it immediately. I think the algorithm for Speedify isn't great for 3G/LTE especially when the connections have high latency.

so.. anyone is paid subscriber for Speedify? If you'd like to make it better, let's band together and ask them to add a speed server here in Malaysia.

i try it before. with celcom+stemex.
not really getting faster speed than my celcom alone
