Why do you need to use BIS? All BlackBerry 10 devices don't use BIS anymore, but they can be reinforced with BES.

I think you're getting the wrong concept.

If you're on BlackBerry 10 device, all data runs on data, no more through BIS. If you're on older BlackBerry devices (which we call it BlackBerry legacy), then it requires BIS because the flow of data is hardcoded into the hardware to compress via BIS.

Oh, you're getting a BlackBerry Passport. That is a splendid choice for a BlackBerry.

1) Any telco with data will do. Check your coverage for 3G and 4G (if you need 4G, but honestly on a phone 3G is good enough unless you're stream heavy)

2) just go to the Passport section for tips. Although android player is removed there's still a place to download and use it, and its still great.

Ok bro thanks. So just to confirm you don't need to buy a BIS plan from telco. Can just buy a good data plan straight?

Yeap. Get a good data plan. Lately DiGi and Celcom are dishing out good values, umobile too. Check it out. But i'm sure you know your data usage and needs.
