Hi All,
im using the existing UNIFI router ( Silver box without antenna- 30Mb speed) and looking to replace it. I found that Xiaomi has routers as well and review looks good. Can anyone confirm if i can use this router to replace my existing UNIFI router ? Im not planning to use it as extender but i want to use as my main router.

Please advise.

Thanks !

looks like it can be modified to use custom firmware eg padavan/openwrt
hardware and specs is almost the same like xiaomi mi wifi mini, only difference is 128MB flash and 4 antenna

OpenWRT firmware isnt user friendly. It is designed for people who is professional in the router networking section only. Well, you can learn how to control it also.

Wrong. For UniFi, both the internet & HyppTV requires VLAN tagging which is something Xiaomi routers doesn't provide

Still cannot, because even the internet from UniFi requires VLAN tagging

Simple Answer:
No, you can't use this router with UniFi. Period

The answer is yes and no.

No on default Xiaomi firmware.

Yes, if you follow this thread to upgrade it to Padavan firmware (use in Asus).
