Hey lads, here's an interesting one for you all to try recommending biggrin.gif

1) Budget: Below 5.5k

2) Required specs

Proc: i7-6700HQ
RAM: 16GB RAM (or 8GB RAM but with option to self upgrade)
Display: 14 or 15" FHD with 95-100% sRGB coverage & IPS screen (so means no MSI PE60)
GPU: Any dGPU 950m and above
Warranty: Min 2 years, prefer 3 years and better if got accidental damage coverage

Thanks all!

I guess there are still few choices around. The one that i am scouting around the pricing as the Lenovo 510 is the HP Pavilion 15-AU168TX. Personally i would pick the lenovo in the past. But after having a lenovo previously. I think this round i might give a try on the HP Pavilion. smile.gif

Thanks for the options.
Spec wise is very similar to Lenovo 510, a plus point for this HP is it is lighter than others
does HP have compartment to access for RAM upgrade? will it void warranty like acer?

I also found priced at RM2699 - Acer Aspire F15 F5-573G-53AQ (I5-7200 / 4GB DDR4 / 128GB+1TB / NV940 4GB DDR5 / 802.11ac / 15.6" FHD LED / W10)
it has SSD compare to Lenovo 510 and HP 15-AU168TX.

But the problem is acer laptop has warranty sticker on the screw, quiet worry that it will void the warranty when upgrading RAM. My inquiry to Acer Malaysia about this haven't got any reply yet.

Hi all, need some advice.

1. Preferred Brand: Dell, Lenovo, Gigabyte, MSI
2. Budget: Up to 6K
3. Usage: Work, photoshop and light gaming
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 13 or 14
5. Good to have:
- USB type c
- HDMI
- Backlit keyboard (very important)

I need something that is portable and maybe future proof. I know future proof is impossible but at least something that can lasts me 2-3 years. I'm thinking of XPS 13 but unsure how reliable is it? Anyone else has any recommendation? TIA

hello. can anyone recommend me a laptop that is optimum for CS students like me?

Preferences(Major):
-Budget: 2000-3000
-At least 3 to 4hrs of battery life
-4 RAM will do(i guess..), not too high/low
-Purpose: for coding/programming either in IDE or terminal + text editor, oh and also less emphasis on gaming since i rarely play PC games
- Good warranty and after sales services

Preferences (Minor):
-Brand: Any will do, though I've been hearing good things about HP when comes to battery life.
-Weight: Don't mind if it's bulky/heavy/light
-anywhere between 13 to 14 inches will do
-Do not overheat rapidly

P/S: My current notebook (ASUS X540LJ if I'm correct) battery life only lasts for under 2hrs. I've been using it since Dec 2013, hope I'm able to get a decent laptop that has a longer battery life. If it weren't for it's battery flaw, then I would've keep using it for much longer period... Thanks
