http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?...915#post2755915I didn't know the reflex mirrors were so fragile.. SLR owners take notice and just stick to the blowers and/or Lenspen when cleaning the mirror or CCD.

Yes, there is a layer lamination on the mirror of Nikon SLRs. I was told even during my film time that you must not use abrasive cleaners (ESPECIALLY alcohol) to wipe the reflective mirrors or the viewfinder. Stick to the manufacturer recommnended way of cleaning and dun try to be a super hero!

Too bad he learned it the hard way. When I bought my SLR (at Boeing Sg Wang), the salesperson gave me a briefing on working the camera. He specifically warned me against touching the mirror because unlike a cosmetic mirror it doesn't have a glass layer protecting it.
