Yeah.... The original M-78 Ultra brothers were the coolest. Never got bored of watching them. What u see is only a fraction of the Ultra collection that I have. Used to buy big ones but it took much of space. Now, just buying the small ones - the HGs are kinda cool.
*
Your collection's Awesome, bro! drool.gif

I've always liked the Ultraman series, back since Ultraman Ace and the animated Jonias. Wasnt old enough to catch the original Ultraman and Ultraseven. Recently watch Ultraman Mebius & the Ultra Brothers; awesome movie for sure wink.gif though the GUYS peeps are just there for the cameo....

Ultraseven X is...err.. a bit Weird hmm.gif it's trying so hard to be in that mysterious X-file-ish mixed with Blade Runner kinda atmosphere. Would have worked well if not for the fact that:
1. the music used is inadequate and therefore repetitive,
2. the opening 'scene/story-setting' scenes are almost always of the same pattern (a person running away in the night, followed by aliens, then murdered or such).
3. the DEUS agents modus operandi are kinda small-scale for such an important job (kinda like MIB, except that they dont have cool, large HQ to lepak in, haha)
4. Ultraseven's fight are kept to the VERY minimum.. realistic yes; but not what you'd expect from an Ultra series tongue.gif

overall, a refreshing change from the typical Ultra series,... BUT only up until the first few episodes; the show tends to get repetitive in terms of story pattern. just my humble opinion blush.gif

Recently bought MegaHouse Actionworks series of Zoffy and Mebius laugh.gif

Pros:
1. GREAT articulations! Probably the best among the Ultraman toys around!
2. Precise and accurate paint scheme.
3. Comes with 3 sets of hands (clenched fist, open palm for the ray attack, and normal relaxed hands)
4. Comes with two inscale ships.

Cons:
1. Wayyyy too small (less than 12 cm tall)
2. Some parts are too loose, but not that bad. Caution: keep AWAY from small kids.
3. So far only Mebius & Zoffy are in this toy line sad.gif would like to have the whole series wink.gif

How much do they cost? Ah.. it brings back memories  biggrin.gif
*
ohya, forgot to mention another CON for these figures: their joints shows, cant be avoided for such small figures i guess, but they could have at least paint the joints to match. wink.gif

bought from XL-shop for RM95 each. Online eBay price is about RM6+, but when u take into account the shipping cost, ends up at RM9+ also. haha.
Retail in Japan is about 2200 yen.

wish they were bigger though. but if more of the Actionworks series comes out for the other Ultras, im definetly getting them wink.gif

Added on July 6, 2008, 7:18 pmPosing these two is surely fun smile.gif the only frustrating part is getting them to stand without falling over, haha. very revoltech!

where can find those super deformed one?
very hard though for ultraman..

If original one, im not sure where can find, though XL-shop seems to have them sometimes.... BUT, i did see some "unofficial" SD ultraman around here in Miri, Sarawak... looks rather nice, but im not into SD figures wink.gif

Just watched Ultraman The Next! seriously it's the BEST attempt at a realistic Ultraman story. Forget Ultraseven X, this Ultraman The Next movie is WAYYYYY better and more realistic, yet still have plenty of battle action thumbup.gif not sure about the Ultraman Nexus spinoff series though..

Hola,
Why is this thread is so quiet. Ultraman fans should make the most out of this thread. I'm always a big fan of Ultraman. Keep buying toys related to Ultraman. Now out of all the many things that I'm collecting, I think Ultraman fills most part of my house. Started to watch Ultraman again when I saw Gaia. The relationship that he had with Agul was something different. Don't quite like Agul V1 but V2 was cool. Nexus series was good but I (personally) think Max was so-so. Mebius is something else. I'm kinda attracted to Ultraman Hikari Night Hunter Tsurugi. There's a lot of similarities with Agul. What do you guys think?
*
Hi there smile.gif ya, not much news concerning Ultraman collectibles here.... not sure if this is true, but it seems that due to licensing issue between Tsuburaya and Chaiyo Tsuburaya Thailand, selling of Ultraman toys in Malaysia and Singapore are limited sad.gif (i think its in wiki somewhere)... why oh why!!!

I agree that Max is kinda childish (especially with that not-so-robotic looking robot girl in the HQ, and that stupid rotating sphere on the computer console, haha).. but Max's design is nice, almost like an updated Ultraseven wink.gif

hm, looking for Ultraman The Next Junis figure, so dam* hard to find! sad.gif yang ada only the Nexus ones...

Hey Evanrue,
I have the 5 Nexus set incl. Junis. I'll go home and snap a picture of it and share it with the other Ultra fans maybe tomoro or day after. It's the same size as the HG Ultras. But if u r looking for the small ones (approx. 8-9cm in height), I think I saw it at a toy shop in Jalan Klang Lama - forgot the name of the place. Something Plaza. I'll get back to you on that. Here's an attachment of the Next Junis I'm refering to. It's the middle shelf, far left behind the other Ultras.

Added on July 16, 2008, 3:06 pmEvanrue,
The shop's name is Toy Mix, top floor Pearl Point, Jalan Kelang Lama. Another shop is at Ipoh Road, Plaza Mutiara.
*
Bro, THAT's an AWESOME collection! drool.gif yupe, saw the Next Junis too, drool.gif

thanks for the info bro, but sadly im located in Sarawak.... saw Speedy video promotion where you'll get an Ultraman figure (looks like it has light up features; i think it was Agul, and another unfamiliar blue Ultraman) with a purchase of an Ultraman DVD (abt rm19.90). kinda cheap IMO smile.gif goin to get it soon...

Just before I came to office this morning, snapped this. It's a rush job but snapping the pix at night is almost impossible. Forgive me cos it's not very clear, but I hope it's clear enough for u Ultraman Nexus out there. Bought this at XL Shop a few years back when they had a shop that place near Petaling Street just beside Kotaraya.
I'll post more of my favourite Ultraman ceramics statue soon. Just wanna make this thread alive. It's a pity that one of the oldest character in the country has lost it's lustre... sigh...
*
Nice bro smile.gif

Ive always wondered why are MOST of the Ultraman figures out there feature VERY limited articulation? at most u'd only have shoulder and waist articulations sad.gif why cant they make Ultraman figures like those typical Star Wars 6 inch articulated ones? *sigh*

i think as of now, only few of the Ultra toys have decent to great articulation (from ActionWorks, Hyper Hero, Bandai Action Hero, RAH, and the Ultrachogokin) ..

want to buy more of the Ultra figures, but im fussy when it comes to articulations, hahaha tongue.gif

Yeah, I know what u mean. I kinda like the fully poseable toys but sometimes, the 'too-many-articulations' spoils the toys. Not too smooth. That's why my preference wld always be the statue. I have the Ultraman B & C versions. The Ultraman B version (picture attached) is 45cm tall and the B version is about 30cm. I cld b looking at these 2 statues & never get bored with it.
*
Yupe, those statues are imposing drool.gif Awesome Collection bro! smile.gif

I agree with you that it is surprising that Ultraman love is not much here in LYN forum. Ultraman was practically THE HERO of the 80s (apart from Optimus Prime wink.gif )

Currently watching Ultraman Nexus and id have to say its the best Ultra TV series so far smile.gif Love the tragic twist behind each Deunamist chosen by the light to be Ultraman ; Great Drama! wink.gif

Yeah, I know what u mean. Saw Nexus last year and I dare say this is one of the best effort they've put in an Ultraman before. It's different, darker, more realistic and oh... the drama rclxms.gif  have u finished watching all the series? If u hav not, the grand finale is nothing short of the word awesome!!!!
*
Not yet bro smile.gif at episode 33 now, and the story is really SOLID rclxms.gif kudos to the people behind the Ultraman 'N' Project!! thumbup.gif

hehe, got myself two Ultra toys, these are from the Bandai Action Hero series, with electronic sound feature (only two transforming sound per figure though)..

Both:

My admittedly small Ultra collection so far:

Pros:
1. Taller than the Actionworks series; about 6.5 inches.
2. Posable; with 13 articulation points! smile.gif
3. Nice paint apps.
4. Sound feature is not bad.

Cons:
1. Could have featured light up eyes and colour timer..
2. Hands fixed in fist pose, no open palm pose to recreate the famous cross ray scenes sad.gif

Bro smile.gif u saw Gaia and Agul Action Heroes of the same set? WAHHH, i want! i cant find them both here in Sarawak... where did u see those two? smile.gif

ya, the eyes are not transparent, sadly. it'd be cool if they sacrifice the sound feature and give these toys light up eyes and colour timer, hehe.

On the UltraChogokin series: Very posable figures, but kind of heavy due to the diecast contect, also partly ABS. Size is the same as the Bandai Action Heroes series.... so now I have two Ultraman Aces with the same height (though different series, haha)

I believe there are a number of them; what i can recall are Mother of Ultra, Ultrawoman Beth, Yullian....

if you mean Ultraman with women human hosts, there's Ultraman Ace (hosts a guy and a girl), Ultraman Nexus (for a short time towards the end of the series).. smile.gif

The movie is basically a BIG ultra smackdown show biggrin.gif.. Belial looks good, and so is the new Ultraman Zero smile.gif one cool thing though; it gives a glimpse of the history of the Ultra beings ( a bit disappointed with one part of that history though, i think those who've watched it would know what i mean)..

btw, i've already pre-orderd Ultra-Act Ultraman the first, Ultraman Zero and Belial from Amiami.. CHEAP rclxms.gif Gomora's there too but not interested in that..

from the Ultraman Zero prototype pic, i hope he can detach the two sluggers from his head; now that would be AWESOME! drool.gif

NICE smile.gif

I've gotten my Ultra-Act Ultraman yesterday, and while mine is not as broken as brother Henshin one is, i still feel that the figure is kinda "cheap" feeling.. i was expecting something like the S.H.Figuarts build and solidity, since the Ultra-act almost look like one..

Poseablility and accessories are good, just that the material used to make the figure is kinda like the one used for the Megahause Actionworks Ultraman.. sad.gif a bit disappointed at Bandai..

will continue collecting the Ultra-Act though; hope Bandai will release all the Ultrabeings, especially the rare Nexus and Next smile.gif

my god.. really that bad? was planning to head over to XL to buy it but give up after all the complains.. too bad..

anyone own MegaHouse - Action Works 006 - Ultraman Zoffy Action Figure or similar? i wonder does it exhibit the same issue as ultra act?
*
i have both MegaHouse Zoffy and Mebius.. the Ultra-Act plastic and built feels like the MegaHouse Actionworks one; except that in my UltraAct at least, the joints are tighter.. also, because the material is the same, but the size is bigger, the Ultra-Act one feels "cheaper" by comparison.

even Revoltech figures have better plastic quality (and i'm growing to hate Revoltech, haha).. but paint-job wise, i think Ultra-Act is still better than any Revoltech figures out there smile.gif

Judging by Henshin's Ultraman, and comparing to mine, i think the build quality seems to differ; mine is not loose at all, very tight. The only problem i have with it is the "cheapo" plastic used..

wirth this first issue Ultra-Act line, it seems there are varying quality; advise anyone to check their item before buying.. i was lucky to get a "good" one from AmiAmi hmm.gif

thanks bro evanrue for the comparison... i know XL still got Megahouse Actionwork Ultraman on the shelf and was considering it since i never own any Ultraman action figure before. seems like not worth getting neither Action Work nor Ultra-Act. i own a few SHF and the quality is fantastic and i will skip my purchase if quality lousier than SHF.
*
If you want to collect all the Ultrabeings, i would not recommend Megahouse Actionwork, because they only have Zoffy and Mebius, with no news of any more products sad.gif their figures are alright, but too small for me, slightly larger than a Star Wars action figure..

QUOTE(yamyinhao @ Jul 7 2010, 02:20 PM)
ultra act are very lousy bro

i thought only mine having the bad paint job look like all also the same

i have review the ultrman just click my sig to view
*
Read your excellent review bro, and agree on the points.. In terms of quality, i think Bandai Action-Heroes series (now discontinued) and the Ultra-Chogokins have the best quality. The Action-Heroes series have no accessories, but got a sound feature. the Ultra-chogokin are now rare, but very high die-cast content, great accessories and articulation. Both series are at the same scale as this new Ultra-Act series..

Got my Ultraman Belial today smile.gif

user posted image

Have to say, quality is slightly better than Ultraman the first, mainly because of the dark paint application. Joints are slightly tighter than Ultraman the first, but not by much..

Overall, Belial looks good, but i'd still wish they could make these Ultra-Act series as solid as the S.H.Figuarts..

Kinda weird rewarding Bandai for putting out inferior products. If i didn't preorder it i would have skipped getting it altogether.

Loads of other ways to spend $$
*
True bro, i wish Bandai would just use their SHFiguarts body for these Ultra-Act line; the articulations are there, just the material they used made it seem lighter than SHF sad.gif Belial is awesome, and a marked improvement over Ultraman the First, but that may be due to the darker colour scheme and those pair of articulated hands smile.gif

This Ultra-Act line is probably our best bet to collect all articulated Ultra Beings.. im REALLY hope Bandai will do Ultraman Nexus and Next; these two are pretty rare..

Here's hoping Mebius, Zero and Seven would show more improvements over Ultraman the first..
