To swim in a straight line, you'd need to keep your body straight or inline. That means, when you pull, roll your shoulders but do not roll your head. This takes practice.

When you're near the finish in backstroke, there's such thing as the 5-meter flag. This flag (or rope) tells you that you're just 5 meters away from the turning or finishing wall. With practice, you'll learn to count your strokes the moment you pass under the 5-meter flag and you'll get used to how many strokes you make after the 5-meter flag before you turn or finish.

Alright, Ive this big race sort of thing in a months time, I can swim pretty ok. Nice timing my friends would say, but i lack is stamina. i used(its been a year since i swam) to swim every sunday, i would swim breaststroke for 80 laps (25meters). But when it comes to freestyle i can do 100M but relaxing. So i know its been talked before, but how much should i swim a week, while training stamina do i go as fast as i can and try breaking the limit? or how?

its not how much u should swim a week, but its how much can u swim a week.
for stamina, do endurance training.
swim as long distance as u can with a pace.. not relaxing type.. distance and speed counts.

Thanks for the reply. When you say pace, doesnt mean i have to swim as fast as i can right? how would the endurance training be like? Would it be like swim as much as i can >rest> continue? how long should i rest?

yup.. when u pace urself means swim at an appropriate speed.. not too fast and not too slow.. and speed should not decrease as you swim.
maybe u can set ur target to 400m non-stop with 2-3mins interval..
if u think its time to get to next level, increase ur distance to 600m, 800m and so on.. with the same time interval.

Where do you guys buy your swimming trunks? What kind? I am looking for trunks which is middle or low-cut sort of. Any idea where to buy? Many swimming trunks I see in Malaysia are very high-waisted. i dont like it. sorry if there was a topic on this.
