Correct. I experienced a merchant using manual swipe, not connected at all.
In the end, I was only billed 3 months later. rclxms.gif

I used it to pay for aeon credit cards. It was posted on 28th in the aeon statement but not in the uob statement till now. The cash back is base on swiping or posting date?

Just want to check, how to find out your credit card approval code when you make online purchases?
Does approval code only exist for swiping at the machine?

Me until today not yet posted, it was a transaction from Sam's Groceria... 7 months, gotta be 8 months soon. RM 500. laugh.gif
So, it is really depending on merchant.

Approval code? Did you mean OTP? It will be sent to your phone via SMS for online transactions.

Best way for me is to call CS before your card anniversary date (i.e. before the AF shows up in your statement). This gives you some negotiating power.

First ask nicely if can waive. They can either say yes (some banks very easy) or no.

If you REALLY don't want to pay the fee, you have one last option: Tell them you would like to cancel the card because the AF is too high. Normally, these are the following outcomes:

1. CS doesn't care and lets you cancel without trying to retain you. If this happens, make sure you have other alternative cards to use. You can usually re-apply for same card either 3, 6 or 12 months later (depending on the respective bank's policies, which you should check).

2. CS will forward you to the retention department. The department will either offer a) waiver of all or part of your fee; AND/OR b) offer you some perk to stay (e.g. RMXX if you swipe RMXX or X times within a certain period).

However, note that waiver is totally at the respective bank's discretion. I hate paying annual fees, so I will always try the above methods. If not successful, I will just cancel.

I don't think anybody has tried last month. This month I think yes but we will only know the result by end of next month.
