it could be more reliable but wear and tear parts is still going to cost more

if 65K is your max you probably should get Alza, brand new with warranty
have to spare at least 5K for Civic

better save a little bit more for a new City, but you probably not interested since you didnt consider used City

logic wise Alza, ikut hati Civic smile.gif

Highway maybe yes.. once in a traffic jam, its still a 2liter engine.. get ready for 10km/l..

U need to think other wear and tear..
Shocks..
Brake pads..
And other consumables..
And if/when it breaks down because of some sensor problems..

C segment stuff always cost more..

Yeah.. dont forget to bring that civic to change the airbags..
Typical malaysian..
Depends on the mileage..
U service your car depending on years is it?

Its already a 4 year car.. at least 80k km mileage... call and ask honda what needs to be changed at 80k, 90k, and 100k..

Oh.. i just drive a proton.. ill shut up.

What is wrong have a new airbag for free? And hope they said need to change the engine too.

You using your proton experience and talk about civic quality?

Don't compare japanese with malaysia
parts reliability jauh beza
of cos price also jauh beza

these days the market flooded with fake parts until i dunno which Myvi or Alza parts that one came from. Used for a while, break again

Civic parts cost at least 2x of perodua.

honda brake pad original already rm300 before installation. u go buy those konon racing pads or aftermarket one cheaper by 50%, but makan your disc then you complain why need to go skim the disc because you brake the steering shudder

follow ur affordability rate. you can pay installment, make sure can pay maintenance too.

that car before facelift?

my one is after facelift 6 years old, 90k mileage

the only thing i changes was:

1) Bushing, rear left and rear right

I think most of the ppl complain manyak problem is before facelift, the round shape headlights

mine i bought new, until today things still running fine

tayar also i changed once only from original, 90k mileage only 1 round tayar change

came with Michelle Pilot Sport, change back to Pilot sport

whatever came with it, i just change back to original. Just like new.

I think i have the least item changed in a civic for a 90k mileage car. biggrin.gif

for car average user, usually fifth year onward many parts need to replace
those stretching themselves will have hard time, imagine parts replacement every 1-2 month if unlucky sweat.gif

If thats the only 2 choice u had in mind, I'll choose the Civic. 1 year down the road, both are used cars. 1 is used Civic another is used Alza.

Civic's are usually reliable unless u get into a lemon unit. A 2012 civic would still be servicing in Honda sc and still under some warranty. Good enough for me smile.gif

Of course Civic's maintenance would be higher compared to the Alza. Sames goes to wear and tear.

Honda have 5 year warranty? If the service record is not good, bye bye warranty..

And is it transferable to new owner?

I bought alza with no regret...

1) huge boot space, i am in retail line, so its a must... how big? I once fetched a 6 feet dinner table and chairs

2) petrol saving.. was driving my gf myvi before i bought mine, more or less same consumption.

3) "sleeping" mode, 3 rows of chairs can fold into a sleeping lazy chairs, used it numerous time in genting or before hiking..

4) less impact when others crash from behind.
Once kena langgar dari belakang, that car was speeding without brake, mabuk you know who, his tyres 180 degree turned, repaired almost 4k with his insurance... minimal impact felt during impact

The only set back was power windows, i "exercise" all 4 of them everyday but recently passenger side intermittently fail...

My alza is 3+ years old

Civic 1.8 cannot fold down rear seats, quite a deal breaker for me.

I'd get Alza, TS. Way more practical, and cheaper to maintain. Road tax also RM90 vs Civic 1.8 RM280++

Honda have 5 year warranty? If the service record is not good, bye bye warranty..

And is it transferable to new owner?

The current FB have but its worth to check out as I'm not sure what offers the buyer get in 2012. I've seen ppl claim warranties on 2nd hand cars so I guess the warranty should goes to the car.

All in all, buying a used car need to really check thoroughly especially service record and verify with the service centers themselves.

Personally would recommend to get at least a 2013 or 2014 FB.

Never go for a used FD, FD will give you headache unless you are a enthusiast (FD2R) and you know what you are getting yourself into. Yes, I used to drove FD2R for quite sometime, sold it off last year.

13~14'ish FB is currently one of the most less headache honda cars on the market now (14~16, with insights from honda SA).

Not sure about the current FC (10th gen) tho, but my insight said that is not really a worth to whoo-haa for, not really that big of a improvement in terms of overall build.

Walau, i see the FD is RV king, 10 year old car still go for rm60k on mudah for 2.0, crazy. I cannot brain paying that much for merely 10 year old civic.

Can share what issues u faced with your FD?

what do you think?

1. comfort - civic
2. NVH - civic
3. boot space ( i dont need  third row alza) - ?? civic boot around 400++ litre.  alza dunno after the third row seat lipat.
4. maintenance - alza
5. durability - civic

how much is the cost for 17" tyre?

am i making right decision

civic second hand would be 2012. around 65K
alza highest spec after discount around 61k.

2nd hand for any Honda cars is a big NO NO.
go ask any honda owner about its maintenance cost.

Why?
The maintenance arent expensive unless is major maintanence which normally around 1.2k(aircond filter those)
