Hi would like to know if the M-Motor in the 8293 power motor set suitable to drive the ferris wheel? as i heard there's 2 type of motor is it? the recommended one would be the 8883 motor. just wanna ask if it's the same? cause plan to get the 8293 set instead of getting separate 88000 + 8883. thanks bro
*
i think the motor of 8293 and 8883 is same...
both look same to me laugh.gif

should be no problem to use 8293... since i use the same motor to power 10244 fairground mixer...

i think instruction in ferris wheel do have power function method? it show the M-Motor, right?

the ferris wheel should be only have a space just enough/easy to add on M motor, have to do extra work if u want to put bigger motor tongue.gif

Its stated to use 8883 + 88000 as per the instruction.
http://brickset.com/sets/8293-1/Motor-Set
http://brickset.com/sets/8883-1/M-Motor

Both looks to be having the same M-motor I think?
*
QUOTE(stevenycs @ Jul 25 2016, 10:20 PM)
Yup, both written M-Motor which I presume meant "medium" torque or speed. as there's another one which is higher torque/speed i heard which will cause the wheel to turn too fast. just wanna confirm this. as mentioned i wanna save some moolah on buying separately 88000+8883 (as stated in the manual) but getting the set 8293 instead. thanks guys.  thumbup.gif
*
i just check back instruction for my fairground mixer, and it is same 8883 + 88000
but i use M motor from 8293 instead, and no problem at all...

i think should be the same for ferris wheel as well laugh.gif

from the instruction pictures, i can see there's gear reduction for motor, so M Motor should be no problem to turn the big wheel... even no problem for L Motor or XL Motor brows.gif

and it looks like quite easy to put big motor in from the hand crane part...

for the battery box, the 88000 is easy for u to put it in base, but basically it is same with the battery box from 8293... maybe the difference of AAA or AA battery and design/size but both can use with the M Motor or any other motor nicely...

for the battery box from 8293, have to put aside, which may look not so nice overall, or u can add some extra part to make it can put on base...

just found back my old picture of my fairground mixer
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

the RC part is just there for me to control the speed brows.gif

speaking of speed, there's one battery box, similar with 88000, but with speed control build in, so no need to use RC part like what i did...

BTW, normally like this should be a lot of technic sifu here post something tongue.gif
but now it seems only me sad.gif

Thanks a lot bro for the double confirmation. Then I will definitely get this set. Ya I know the 8293 battery box can't really fit nicely on the plate. But I get what I paid. So it's ok. As this set comes wit the two LEDs which can be added to the wheel underneath. Saw the video from SBrick with BT control which totally blows my mind away. But the price a bit steep for the Control module I think USD59.99 excl delivery. But the idea of having a BT control from my iPad/iPhone controlling the speed with the set inside my seal display box blows me away haha! Ok back to work.
*
you're welcome biggrin.gif
just to share info here tongue.gif

and yeah, i almost forgot the extra part from the 8293 doh.gif
it do have a light, a switch, and some gear laugh.gif

and SBrick do have speed control as well...
when it first release, i quite interest with it, but after seeing the price sad.gif and i don't found anyone selling it here...
(i don't think anyone want to order/sell this SBrick here)

Of you got the mixer too. 10000 over bricks not a bad buy.

You have the grand carrousel also? I heard review online that it's very delicate is it? Once completed you can't really move it that much or it will fall apart or something like that. Not sure if the review is right or not n
*
u mean 1000+ brick laugh.gif is there any single set that have 5 digit amount of bricks hmm.gif
not sure about other theme, but technic so far around 4000 only...

and the grand carousel, u mean 10196?
i do not have this set, i only have 10244 fairground mixer...
what i like 10244 is u can make everything back to truck form and travel around thumbup.gif

the grand carousel i think already not release by lego, so hard to find one...

now to look back, the fairground mixer is my first expert set, probably my biggest non technic set...
or maybe 70403 Dragon Mountain can be my biggest non technic set as well (the dragon is tall tongue.gif )

somehow, recently post make me want to grab this 10247 ferris wheel laugh.gif

opss sorry, i think i read the brick count wrongly, i tot its written 10xxx. haha~
that's why i was quite surprised a set has higher brick count than the Taj haha!
Highest brick count holder still goes to 10189 Taj Mahal with 5922 brick .. awesomeness

my neighbor has one carousel haven't brick yet. maybe i can wait for his review after he brick it.

for me ferris wheel only setback would be the color scheme used on the whole set.
that green and purple? seriously? but critics did mentioned that the year before they launched FW, they came out with the Mixer, hence they do not want to reuse the same color scheme as the Mixer.
So we have some really odd solid colors on the set.
*
haha... don't worry about it... it just 1 more digit extra tongue.gif
not sure about the color... this one is personal preference...

maybe color from other set is nicer when putting together, but what i saw from the ferris wheel is motorise to make it turn laugh.gif

QUOTE(thugs @ Jul 26 2016, 11:21 PM)

*
haha... yeah, i was thinking this also biggrin.gif
but been keep on postpone this set... until i give up this set already...

until i saw recently friend set that are good for theme park doh.gif
but now not really easy to find ferris wheel now, and the price now really sad.gif
my biggest problem is: i think i will just keep this ferris wheel in box if i really buy it cry.gif

If you want function then has to be the Technic set especially the Benz Aroc.

If you want something nice for display in the display case then Mini Cooper and Beetle.

p/s: I have the Porsche + Mini Cooper, targetting the Beetle

42030 is good biggrin.gif
just this set have all the parts to do RC thumbup.gif

QUOTE(Kerry1136 @ Aug 22 2016, 04:29 PM)
Very detail bro.

Yes I am very new to this at first I didn't even know that I can transform my Lego creator to something move-able.

I did check online with Lego 9398 as a initial beginner to learn about the power functions but it mentioned that it has been retired.

I doubt I can find it locally though.
*
just found back some of my old pictures...

not really detail, just simply add in motor, receiver, battery, maybe some part and gear...
then use controller to play around laugh.gif
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

all these technic sets already have moving gear... it's not too hard to RC them...

for non technic set, this is the only one that i attemp to make it move laugh.gif
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

basically, one controller, one receiver, two motor, one battery box and some extra parts and gears will do icon_rolleyes.gif

i'm sure u can easily found more info on internet...
even easier if u have specific set to RC (such as the mini cooper)

i do not have mini cooper, but i think mini cooper do not have gears, probably need to do quite a lot of modification...
i think even the battery box may not fit inside the car laugh.gif
but don't let this discourage u, i'm sure with internet nowadays, u can found a way to do it laugh.gif

Yeah RM1k....I'm kinda reluctant to spend that amount as I have other stuff to go for (disney castle, beetle...)

But yea basically I need to know the parts to RC my mini cooper, wall-e or basically any stuff that moves...
Two motors but some sizes are like M some are XL, does it fit basically on a small piece like cooper? I also see there are two types of controller though...
*
i'm not sure about size... since i don't have the mini cooper...

maybe u need to try look for internet, see how they put the motor...

for controller, one is normal, to control on/off
another one is for train, can control speed...

as u can see from my previous post, i use the train controller to control speed of motor for my fairground mixer brows.gif

8293 is a beginner box with just M motor and battery box. No IR, no RC, no servo motor.
You have fancy lights for decoration purpose only.
Also, total cost for parts wise is not cheap.

Full box set is more expensive, e.g. 42030 Volvo. But you get a lot of spare parts and full set motor/controllers.

I have mini cooper and samba van, but not yet build. Going slow on building Lego at the moment. Just finish 42009 and an old 8455 pneumatic backhoe recently. Maybe start to mod 42009.

Buying parts in bulk is cheaper, and can use for multiple projects:

All old pictures 2-3 years ago la bro, no time take new pic, even for the 42009 or 8455 non-mod. laugh.gif  only few Technic modders here, I remember you  brows.gif

Since 8455 is manual pneumatic, I've purchased parts to build an external air-compressor using M motor and pump.
42009 Jurgen Ultimate parts are complete as well, no time mod yet.

BTW, I got 2 sets 9398. 2nd set already broke up for parts. At that time, it was cheapest around RM600 only.
