sorry guys newbie here,
just to share what I been advise from a PRO FD investor.

was told if you have large amount of excessive money and not good on share market. The ways to make some additional CASH from bank is through FD.

This PRO had about few millions in FD. He share with me how he make the money grow in FD. Earlier was heavy lost on unreliable share market and he is not good on it. So he workout a better and guarantee return investment.

the formula what he told me as below:

presume the FB interest is 1 month 3.25% and compare 3 month 3.30%.

month amount interest rate total
1 10,000.00 3.25% 27.08 10,027.08
2 10,027.08 3.25% 27.16 10,054.24
3 10,054.24 3.25% 27.23 10,081.47

month amount interest rate total
3 10,000.00 3.30% 27.50 10,027.50

Most of the banker will approach you by offer you a higher interest for longer period such as 3 months onward.
But when you work out as formula above, actually if you put in 1 month FD you could earn better. (if you put the interest add in, auto renew).
And additional benefit for short term is you could withdraw any time when u require without loosing half of the interest profit. Let say tight up 6months or 12 months, and emergency need CASH.

This PRO although he is CASH cow, he still prefer split his MONEY is several FD. (he told me about 100 over piece FD document).
If any bank have special promotion you can withdrawn ASAP and reinvest even within same company BANK.

Just my humble sharing, if any above is inaccurate please ignore.
apologies for in convenient cause.

3.25% with 12 months compounding interest cannot beat say 4.35% or even affin's 4.5% lei.  laugh.gif  tongue.gif

No worries, just for sharing though.
Like I say, indeed if you have plenty of CASH you may put for long term.

But some case is exceptional, this PRO told me branches will fight to get their performance bonus or sales target.
not to mention Bank NAME.
PRO use to put FD on BANK A close to working place. Eventually BANK A open another branch at PRO home area.
Approaches PRO to deposit for better interest.

Basic human though, why not since the rate is way better. So transfer the money to BANK A (home area).
After a week later, BANK A (work place) realize that PRO had withdraw and place in BANK A (home area). Immediately call PRO for discussion.
End up PRO had to sit to discuss within this same BANK A why dispute so much? and even question BANK A (work place) " had been long term client more then 30 years", no such offer but now same BANK different interest ???

the only answer PRO got is, new branches open got approval for special PROMOTION in order to increase client and fulfill sales target!!

The funny part is, in order to please both side, PRO had to split 50/50 for both bank.
I also wonder, why had to do so? we are customer, if internal fight is their problem!!

Again, old bird always had though. Keep peace to low profile yourself, both BANK have PRO detail. No reason to make enemy or trigger case such as ransom, kidnap or misfortune incident.

PRO experience before when withdrawn CASH about 20K was snatch when on the way driving bank home. (typical Malaysia case, smash your passenger window during stop at traffic light).
and several cases PRO been through when with the amount PRO have.
common cases, rob angpau/bonus money when PRO withdrawn bring back to office. That was 20 years ago, when the culture prefer CASH but now mostly by cheque.

So is up to you to put long term or short term. Of course if you are CASH cow then no problem lah..
makan gaji like me, only can make some extra income from the most risk free/guarantee return. (not good in stockmarket mah)
So open up to listen some PRO advise.
I'm not so convince until witness myself the FD receipt PRO have.
that time PRO just return from bank, I was told to wait at office.
PRO holding 12 piece with tenure 1 month and 3 months.
The amount really hope someday/ one day I could own, (50k, 100k, 40k, 20k) if not mistake about 500k in total.
Not proper to calculate people money when willing to share the knowledge.

Apology, suppose below formula in excel but when typing show all alright until post all the space and alignment off.

HSBC branded mah, therefore hold back abit.
well just take the opportunity to get 5% before promotion end.
what I was told HSBC is the highest at the moment but restrict 30k per person only.
