QUOTE(tryifelsecatch @ Jul 13 2016, 03:50 PM)
quick question, does the PIDM protection thing works base on bank or on certain FD program?
*
As far I know as long as the FD is issued by Bank (Conventional or Islamic) the FD is protected by PIDM . If the FD is issued by Investment uniy then it is not protected where banker will notify before you subscribe.

But PIDM, if I'm not mistaken, only insured up to 200k per account or per individual (this I'm not sure).

so even if a bank is ahli PIDM, some of the FD package offered is not protected by PIDM right?
for example MBB General Investment Account-i (GIA-i)
there is this clause stated  - "* Not covered by PIDM. Principal is not guaranteed"
*
MBB GIA is belonging to Investment Unit so not covered PIDM.

since it's an investment unit, then why the return is capped at 4%?? hmm.gif

why don't they cancel the promise of 4% and instead give more than 4% whenever possible??

side question: is that ASB covered by PIDM??
*
FD with Investment linked partly goes to "fluctuate" Investment which is based on their Investment portfolio at the end of year. No promises will be given .

I want to open new FD for rm20k. thinking of affin bank but need to make new acc as im only maybank  holder.
anyone can advice for better option than affin? or just fd in maybank less hassle

*
Assuming you could earn monthly interest at these rates:

4.25% RM70.83
4.00% RM66.67 (Difference RM4.16)
3.90% RM65.00 (Difference RM5.83)
3.75% RM62.50 (Difference RM8.33)

Decide yourself which is best for you - Time, Distance, Worthy, etc..

Fresh funds means either CASH or Banker's Cheque from other bank. For eg, tomorrow I have HL Mach FD maturing so that amount is not consider as fresh fund.
*
some bank can assume any as fresh fund ....

Whichever bank you go to, if they really require you to putnin fresh funds, just withdraw transfer your money out and transfer it back in. Trust me, the banks cant do shit about it.

Best answer.

Hi guys, would like to check, I was told HL Islamic 4.15% need to open account RM200, and after maturity I still need to have RM200 in the account to maintain it. Is that right?
*
Islamic saving account and FD are two different accounts.

Normal saving account, usually, does need to maintain not less than RM10.

I really don't understand this .
As I know I put fd 10k
Casa 2500.

Interests 4.13 pa base on 10k,  any outcome lower ?
*
QUOTE(cklimm @ Aug 2 2016, 07:37 PM)
it means that, you tied up 12.5k in casa and FD, but only the 10k in FD earning 4.15%, the 2.5k is earning savings acc interest?

Masih tak faham? Just go ahead, practical experience teaches best
*
i believe this is marketing scheme.

if total to place is 12,500
- 10k gets 4.15%
- 2.5k gets saving acc interest 0.35%
then the average rate is only 3.39%

sendiri decide should go for it or not.
