Just wondering... Will anyone open up a new account at certain banks just because of the promo rates for FD? Or will you just pick the best rates offered by the bank that you are holding account with?

Hmmmmm ...... ok, I give a simple example below.

Say I have $100K cash in HLB S/A available for FD placement. 3 senario for FD placements available at HLB.

(1) Transfer $100K to another bank, then buy BC $100K & bring over to HL to enjoy 4.25% pa.

(2) Do a FD placement to a max of $95K at 4.25% pa & the balance $5k (which is 5%) retained in SA for 2-months. After 2-months period the $5K available at your disposal.

(3) Do a FD placement of $100K BUT at 4.20% pa only becos' it is non-fresh fund. Means 100% in FD but at a lower rate.

I opted for the 2nd. method this morning as I need the 5% for my cash flow in 2~3 months time.

went to take out my KFH upfront interest today. was told yesterday last day for that promo. then asked them if i can get the money out by banker's cheque on maturity - they said no more BC according to BNM directive. Betul kah? haha if <10k can do online transfer at 2.12 per transfer. if >10K, rentas transfer at 5.30

does that sound right?

Online instant transfer is RM1.06
Rentas is going to cost RM9.54 puke.gif <--- did this and only the next day some bank announced limit of 50k

Help calculate FD.

If the FD rate is 4.3%, how much will I get if I put 2 years?

FD rate 4.3% is by month or by year?

Let's say I put 10k... how much will I get on yearly or monthly ?

Thanks

the interest is always calculated based on yearly basis...

10000 x 4.3% = 430 earning per year - over 12 months.
one month = 35.83

My FD matured today and I just renew it for 1 year 4.25% conventional FD rate. No T & C. I nearly delayed going to bank this morning but glad I did with the promotion sudden ending today.

my two cents about the interest crediting...

The interest that is paid monthly usually is for senior citizens... Above 55...

Not many banks want to extend this to the younger ones...

Anyone knows if the interest of Maybank eFD Flexi Campaign (Effective rate for a year is about 4.3) still valid?

Placed one in April and has not reached the 7th month stepped up interest...
*
still valid for the placement you done in april - wait for the interest...
the interest rate shown does not change but the interest is as per stated- do own calculation...

Side note: Not all staffs know about the merdeka promotion yet...
