It made one feel happy for locking in FD at 2,3,5 years for 4.5,4.6% deals.  rclxm9.gif

But looking forward matured FD will get lower rates.  cry.gif

You should have lock more in ambank 4.6% or maybe previous mbsb 5 years. laugh.gif tongue.gif

Some kiddo never use the brain.  vmad.gif How to lock in more at high rate.  laugh.gif

We only use available funds to lock in at the highest rate at the time, if we choose that bank. So saying put more funds at the highest rate and tenure is just not using otak.  laugh.gif

Well you did say you need to spread out the eggs. Don't put all eggs in one basket. tongue.gif

There is speculation that there would another cut rate of OPR by 25 points, resulting the OPR at 2.75%, if the economy continue to deteriorate and US federal reserve keep its interest rates unchanged.
*
Excellent. thumbup.gif more people will go into debts. Like boiling a frog. whistling.gif FD rates will drop. People won't keep so much money in the bank. Banks will be squeezed tight.

Public bank also took down its 6+6 months FD offer in their website around 4.2% one.

Banks generally quick to react on FD rate when OPR being reduced time.
Can say immediate/next day when OPR reduction is known.

The slowness may cause bank a lot of extra interest needs to be paid.

But they generally will react much slower in reduction of BLR or BR.  whistling.gif  vmad.gif

Thank you. That's what I want to know.

Should I just put into 1-month FD board-rate for the time being until they have new promotional rates?
I have another FD maturing next week ... quite substantial amount. What should I do? Suggestion please. TQ.
*
Rates will drop. I can assure you new promo rates will not be as high as KFH. So is your choice. The boat is waiting for you. If it's me, I will lock into KFH. But then again, I no longer do FDs. I am in the process of withdrawing out all my FDs. So low FD interest does not bother me. tongue.gif biggrin.gif rclxm9.gif
If you are locking, better hope they don't end the promo today

Back to the point, Public Bank do offer the lowest rates for car and housing loans though.   brows.gif
Who doesnt want a gold coin if BR offers? brows.gif

Good to know. Will keep that in mind
For me, any gifts + FD which can be sold (to boost effective rates and make it better than other bank rates), I will be their customer. Decoration bleh. If real gold coin take la.

Below replied from Affin, they still offer me below rate valid till 24/7/2016. And i've date their branch manager to secure info.

Raya Merdeka Bonanza 2016 Campaign

This campaign is from 1 June 2016 until 30 September 2016 both dates inclusive.

The prizes to be given away under this campaign are a total of eighty-eight (88). Each customer stands a chance to win cash prize of RM88 each. The cash prizes will be credited to the customer’s account within 2 months after the closing date of the promotion.

This campaign provides customers with attractive fixed deposit interest rates when customers deposit minimum RM10,000 or 80% of the total deposits (fresh fund) in Fixed Desposit (FD) and earmark minimum RM2,500 or remaining 20% of the total deposits in CASA (Current Account/Savings Account).

Eligibility

To participate in this campaign, customer must deposit into Fixed Deposit and Current/Savings account the minimum amount stipulated.
1.        This campaign is open to all new and existing AFFINBANK individual customers (“Eligible Participant”).
2.        Eligible customers who deposit the stipulated amount in Fixed Deposit (80% of the total deposits) and earmark in CASA (the remaining 20% of total deposits) will be able to enjoy promotional Fixed Deposit rates as follow:

FD Tenure
Promotional Rate
Minimum FD Placement (80%)
Minimum deposit amount in CASA (20%)
CASA Earmark Tenure
6 months
4.18%p.a.
RM 10,000
RM 2,500
6 months
9 months
4.28% p.a.
9 months
13 months
4.38% p.a.
13 months

3.  The amount deposited into CASA must be earmarked/hold for the same time period as the Fixed Deposit tenure, if not customer will not be eligible for fixed deposit promotional interest rates.

4.  The interest for FD will be credited upon maturity.
5.  The promotion is applicable for New Funds only. New Fund is defined as:-
      a. Cash, Interbank GIRO, new funds receive via telegraphic transfer from other banks, local cheque or banker’s cheque issued by other banks within one week from date of deposit;
      b. Proceeds arising from the redemption of equity and unit trust funds that are redeposited into any CASA.

*
Deposit into CASA will effectively reduce the effective interest rate earned. Not worth it. Better to go for pure FD.

I'm not really understand? This is FD right? Any different CASA pure FD??

Sorry i'm not familiar with this.
*
This is FD + you need to keep 20% of the amount you put in FD into CASA.
QUOTE
Eg.
Rm10k in FD, RM2k in CASA. Compare that with RM12k in pure FD. Which one will give you better returns?

extra deposit 20k on CASA account?

or 100K FD, 20k goto CASA
Interest 4.38%  base on 80k?
*
Not sure. But main point is you will not get the 4.38%. You will get lesser.
