As I know, Maxis Speedtest sucks data like mad! Say you do one speedtest costs about 70Mbps!
*
Thats the data u have to consume for high speed speed test.
Higher speed use more data.

QUOTE(Berus Wine @ Jul 24 2016, 10:20 PM)
Umobile line is getting slower in my area (Puchong).
Luckily I didn't switch to hero P70. It was good plan with 15 GB data + unlimited call + video onz previously but they revised that.
But now the line is very slow. Rarely over 500kbp/s in peak hour.
Need to wait after 12 then only can load facebook...

Too much people switching to umobile (coz cheap) now they cant handle the network congestion..
so if you want reliability, better choose that 'M' telco since they have a lot customer leaving recently.. so network is less congested lol
*
agreed on the slower part.
but still good enough to stream youtube, and website surfing. except gaming not that good, ping jumping between 50 to 600ms in dota 2.
area kelana jaya, speed without stability.

how slow is that?

I am using Celcom Blue, despite in my room only has one bar signal, the data speed (LTE) is awesome
but u mobile is really cheap, so now thinking between these options (45 celcom VS 28 umobile)
*
3g - 1mb+ can youtube 480p smoothly.
4g - 6mb+, download speed is ok, but not really responsive for web browsing, gaming lagggg.. maxis respond faster and smooth.

Think of this suggestion previously but currently 3GB quota monthly still sufficient for my usage.
Change to postpaid could be a good idea, the prepaid credit can bring forward to postpaid?
Thanks you all for the suggestions.  smile.gif

it can be bring forward to the postpaid if u convert to postpaid.

You mentioned you have been with U Mobile for 3 years. Have you always been a postpaid user all this while or you were on prepaid and only recently changed to postpaid ?

FYI, this is not unique to U Mobile. DiGi and Celcom also have similar policy. I have been with DiGi forever since year 2004 but in 2010 i changed my line to DiGi Postpaid. Because the postpaid account is new so i had to pay DiGi RM300 to enable my roaming service. If my memory serves me correctly, DiGi will gladly enable roaming service if your postpaid account has been active for more than 3 months without having you to pay the RM300 deposit. Maxis Postpaid is the only that enables roaming service even if your account is still new, as far as i know.
It's something akin to building a credit history. The telco doesn't know you well and postpaid line comes with a credit limit. Even though your monthly commitment is only RM70 your credit limit could be something like RM300 or more. The reason why they do not enable roaming for postpaid line by default is because they are afraid you will dry up your credit limit very fast while on roaming and then don't pay. That is why if your postpaid account is still new they need you to pay a deposit to enable roaming service.

Roaming service is automatically enabled for prepaid because you can use up to what you have in your prepaid account. There is no worry about people refusing to pay for roaming charges later on.
Maxis allows Hotlink users to carry over up to RM1,000 from their Hotlink account to Maxis postpaid.

will umobile automatically activate roaming for postpaid when fulfilling the minimum 3 months usage.
or need call in to ask only enable roaming?

is after 6 months usage, call them and free for activation

or subscribe auto debit / present previous 2 months bills with auto roaming charge to entitled internation Roaming activation for free

otherwise RM 300 deposit is needed
need to be same owner, so either u change ownership @ celcom first, or change owner @ umobile after porting into umobile
*
Ok. Thanks for clarification. Still need wait.

Hopefully they make P70 15GB permanent later. That's my sweet spot. 30 is too much for me. But for sure once their network is up to par with everyone else they will make everything more expensive
*
hope good thing last long for sure.
7+8, is good, but i took p98 because p70 was "promo" 15gb only.

actually U Mobile coverage is the best, imagine Yes only Yes, Maxis only Maxis, Digi only Digi, Celcom only Celcom, but U Mobile = U Mobile + Maxis 2G/3G. Although Webe = Celcom + TM + P1, but the line is still new and not stable. Only thing that when we use U Mobile and Webe, we need to set our phone to roaming even though we are in Malaysia, else you won't get the coverage from non U Mobile coverage.
*
i think setting roaming on in malaysia to "roam" with maxis network is invalid.
because it work by just connecting to the maxis infrastructure.

anyway, so far i used iphone with roaming off, can still connected to umobile 2g while in kampong area.
