Hi guys, any Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15" users face the following symptom? I'm a super sensitive IT guy so i noticed it immediately after i purchased this new gaming notebook. Everyone's perception and sensitivity is different so maybe i'm gonna hit and miss here.

My Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15" specs:
OSWindows 10 Home Single Language 64-bit
CPUIntel Core i7-6700HQ 2.60 GHz
RAM8 GB plus another 8 GB Kingston RAM specifically for Lenovo Ideapad Y700
RAM spec: DDR4, 2133MHz, Non-ECC, CL15, 2R, X8, 1.2V, Unbuffered, SODIMM, 260-pin
GPUNVIDIA GTX 960M 4 GB GDDR5 VRAM
Storage128 GB M.2 SSD + 1 TB HDD

1. Feeling noticeable slow and sluggish after opening 4 or more applications at the same time. For example Google Chrome with multiple tabs, Mozilla Firefox with multiple tabs, Microsoft Office, any Steam games, any Origin games, Ragnarok Online (RO is not graphics intensive at all) etc.

2. Alt-Tab window switching sluggish, noticeable slower than a 6 years old notebook with Intel 1st gen Core i5 460M 2.53 GHz and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 (can even run Crysis 2 (but not 3) with average graphics settings)

3. After closing all the applications, it's still slow and sluggish. Seems like the invisible memory is not yet released.

4. After restart the PC will back to normal, but it'll repeat the same symptom again and again.

5. RAM usage in Task Manager is fine and normal.

6. Updated to the latest Intel Graphics driver, NVIDIA graphics driver, Intel Chipset driver, Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver, Intel Management Engine Interface driver but still having the same symptom.

7. I thought the Windows Updates messed up the system but when i first time unboxed this notebook, the one and only Windows Update History is "Update for Microsoft Windows KB3120667" February 6, 2016. At that point of time already having this symptom even before updating the following Windows Updates.

8. Formatted with genuine Windows 10 Professional 64-bit and have zero Lenovo bloatware but still having the same symptom. I went into Local Group Policy to disable the Windows Update too.

9. Tested it with different SSD & RAM but still having the same symptom. The only two things that i don't have are the CPU and GPU, otherwise i'd test it too.

10. Ran the Lenovo Solution Center hardware scan shows no hardware error.

Hi bro, i also thought the Windows Updates messed up the system but when i first time unboxed this notebook, the one and only Windows Update History is "Update for Microsoft Windows KB3120667" February 6, 2016. At that point of time already having this symptom even before updating the following Windows Updates.

I can't stop the Windows Update from downloading because the OS is Windows 10 Home, but then i didn't restart the PC yet for like 4 to 5 days, so it didn't install the Windows Updates yet.

Base on the information given, this is a common "pain leg" which happen to due to lack of memory and the backend windows system unable to release the memory allocated to the free unuse state.

You CANT disable windows update on Windows 10. But you can do it by using registry editing method.

The other solution is you can try to install much more memory into your system, like borrow a 16G Ram from your friend and install it in to see if this could solve the problem

I see...pain leg...is it similar like memory leak or different? I've test with different RAM but the symptom still persist, i highly believe that it's not the RAM issue... Bro...actually we can disable Windows Update in Local Group Policy, only for Windows 10 Professional edition but Home edition cannot, just google search it...

Hopefully nothing wrong with your computer.

If you have upgraded to acer predator. Do tell if you are facing the same issue.

Because if you are. Unbeliveably, it could be the intel cpu. Intels just cant multitask well and sensitive guys like us can't help but notices it.

Try (don't buy) using an AMD based laptop first. If i'm right, the problem will simply go away. AMD is just smoother, hard to explain (must less prove) but it works for me.

Welcome to the AMD club. It'a curse and a blessing.
Use only AMD fx cpu/apu, non fx AMD stuff are crap.

Intels will always stutter. Most people just never notice it.
*
Yo...now i met a sensitive guy~ Haha...aiyo...you're pulling me into the AMD club. I was an Intel + AMD member for the past 6 years mate...my Acer-not-gaming-notebook with Intel Core i5 + ATI* HD 5650 served me well for the past 6 years, but it disagree to run Star Wars Battlefront lately...so i decided to upgrade... laugh.gif

*ATI is history

Hmm...maybe you're right, maybe it's either the motherboard, CPU or GPU issue.

By the way is there any Acer Predator variant using AMD? So which gaming notebook you're recommending? Alienware and Intel are always the best buddies right?
