Guys, I've updated to Nougat for Zenfone 3 5.2". Now wifi isn't working. cry.gif

Well, I still haven't done a factory reset though. Maybe I'll do just that after work. Also, the notification tray has empty space on top-left side. When clicked, it seems like this was the clock area, as it would open the clock and alarm app. Hurm...

Yeah, probably will do just that. Just that, it really hits me when suddenly, I can't connect to internet with wifi. cry.gif

Guys, just to update, everything is fine now. Enjoying Android 7.0 on my Zenfone 3 5.2".
The upgrade file is around 1.5GB I think.

Okay, what people do need to know is that after updating, the wifi settings will be altered without it being mentioned. Previously installed Unifi in my home, but somehow certain gadget will have trouble using the wifi. This is because the Default gateway couldn't automatically sync between router and the gadget. What was needed to solve the issue was to manually set the default gateway and IP for the gadget.

My Zenfone 3 was manually set to use the wifi when the Unifi was first installed, which was a few months ago. So, after update from Android 6.1 to 7.0 was completed on my Zenfone 3, I'm still connected to my wifi (which means that network settings wasn't totally reset), but I can't connect to the internet.

Since I didn't remember that I need to manually set back the Default Gateway and IP, I first try to Completely Reset my Network Settings, which makes the phone forgets all the saved network. This is to no avail, which I then continue with do a full factory reset, which also is to no avail. Then I proceed to hard factory reset and clear cache by holding down power button and volume down button for 6 seconds when phone is off. This also didn't result in my phone can be connected to internet using wifi. Then, after losing all hope, I remembered to check my TV network settings and try using the similar settings to my phone, and voila, there is internet connection with wifi. ohmy.gif

**Important**
So, for people updating their phones to Android 7.0 (for Asus Zenfone 3 MY), do note that it will change the manually set wifi settings to auto.

The UI is the same for the most part. Most of the changes visible are from the drop down menu for quick settings. The good thing about Zenfone 3 is 4GB RAM + 64GB Internal storage for the price. You also get OIS for the rear-camera, which both Honor 8 and P9 doesn't have. The manual control for camera is also quite good since there are many options to change and control.

yeah. used zenfone 2 before with 4gb/64gb. very snappy. just the battery is worst maybe because of intel soc

yup, ois is the main advantage. p9 and h8 also got manual right?

for the price, surely zenfone 3 win

Correct, for me it's well built. I do think it can be better with back-lit buttons and a faster response for fingerprint scan.

Correct, both H8 and P9 also got manual, but I'm not sure how many things you can control with those 2 smartphones. With Z3 you can control shutter speed and you can control the focus distance on top of the regular manual controls like ISO, WB and Exposure.

Well, I didn't feel it improved, though it definitely isn't getting worse. I do feel like the phone is wee-bit more responsive, even compared to when I bought it new. Maybe the animations/transitions has speed up.

Ok, thanks.

I still holding back from updating to Nougat cause kind of troublesome to do a factory reset and reinstall many apps and some data also need to backup manually.

It is not compulsory to do factory reset though, but it's probably highly recommended.

After 3 days of Nougat. All systems running fine.

One noticeable difference is the finger print reader, much more responsive.

Hi guys,
Need your opinion,
which model is better?
Asus Zenfone 3 Max 5.2" or Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML ?

Zenfone 2 got 4GB RAM while Zenfone 3 only 3GB RAM.
Is it okay if i run 10 apps at the same time for 3GB RAM? or is it depend on processor?

and will my battery life last longer if i use Zenfone 2 as it has bigger screen and only 3000 mAH?

Thank you

Bro, dont bother with Zenfone 2, useless intel chips.

Get the Zenfone 3 ZE552KL, 4gb ram and 64gb rom. 5.5". The Snapdragon 625 chip is very energy efficient. 1 day use no problem. rclxm9.gif
