To all the tech gurus out there,

I have an inspiron 14 5000 series dell laptop (5459), it has a 1 TB HDD.

The laptop comes with an optical drive which i rarely use, so i understand i can buy an adapter (something like this http://www.ebay.com.my/itm/1PC-Universal-9...08f&rmvSB=true) and mount an ssd.

SSD will be for windows booting and all that stuff. Any advice or how to's? Anyone done it before?

Thank You!

Done it for my MacBook White. Working fine. Can even boot from the secondary drive.

U need to take out the optical drive and buy the correct adapter to match the drive. There 3 type of adapters.

What are the 3 types ? And should I put my HDD into the optical drive slot and ssd into the main sata port? Or it won't make a difference in terms of speed

No diff in speed.

Take out your optical drive and look at the design. Buy the correct adapter to match the optical drive housing.

Put ssd in main data port and HDD into optical drive. I think optical drive slot only support up to sata2 speed, so it might be slow.
