US Approves 80 SM-2 Missiles For $302 Million To Australia
Our Bureau10:04 AM, June 1, 201

he US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has approved sale of 80 SM-2 missiles for $302 million to Australia.
The contract includes vertical launch canisters for the SM-2 Block IIIB missiles, contractor engineering, technical and logistics support services.
"It is vital to US national interests that Australia develops and maintains a strong and ready self-defense capability," the agency said in its notification to Congress.
Australia plans to use the missiles for anti-air warfare test firings during Combat Systems Ship Qualification Trials for the Royal Australian Navy's three new Air Warfare Destroyers now under construction.
The SM-2 Block IIIB missiles, combined with the destroyers' Aegis combat systems, will provide enhanced area defense capabilities over critical Southeast Asian air and sea lines of communication.
The principal contractors would be Raytheon and BAE Systems.

deswai not many pipul use gas turbine

uk got type 45 ship problem
usa got freedom ship problem
*
basically is how the ventilation/cooling design for gas turbine specially use in hot area.
the main issue in UK navy type45 is wrong selection of Rolls-Royce WR-21 gas turbine bcos it not suitable use in hot area. under power for 8k tons ship, they use WR-21 mainly because highly fuel efficiency。but only 21kw each x2 in type 45, went in hot area, high temperature cause engine out put will drop。 compare Arleigh Burke 9K tons use 4x LM2500 gas turbine with total 75kw power

freedom ship using newly launch high fuel efficiently Rolls-Royce MT30 gas turbine due to high out 36kw power。facing issue is normal。 it need time to mature。
best still GE LM2500 Gus turbine use in Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, LM2500G4 Gas turbine 34kw power use in Fremm, Meko200. 30 year gas turbine engine still reliability, no issue use in hot area. just fuel efficiency a bit not good as MT36.

not many people/navy use gas turbine due to
1) expensive, usually diesel engine only $1 million ++ plus 2-4 million for control system, simple intake/exhaust,Gas turbine price about $6-12 million each, plus more complex system, more complex cooling, intake, cost may end up $20 million.
2) Gas turbine high fuel consumption for low speed.
3) Gas turbine only use in high speed cruise due to advantage of high power, so basically not use in most time。
4) need cost for Gas Turbine System engineer/Technician on ship.
5) High cost Chief Engineer with gas turbine operation/maintenance capability

Advantage Gas turbine
1) small, just like our Gowind 4 MTU 8000 engine each 9kw with 45 tons weight, total power 36kw with total weight 180 tons, compare to 1 set LM2500G4 gas turbine only 25 tons weigh but provide 34kw power.
2) provide high power output requirement for high speed cruise. specially navy warship over 3K tons.
3) High efficiently during high speed cruise compare to diesel running at full power for high speed.
4) Increase maneuverability and flexibility.

will this grounding impact our EC725?

European safety officials widen Super Puma grounding
2 June 2016

European aviation safety officials have extended the grounding of Super Puma helicopters amid concerns about its gearbox.
Investigators have found signs of metal fatigue in components from the aircraft that crashed off Norway in April, killing 13 people.
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) said both H225 and AS332 (L2) variants should cease flying.
Iain Stuart from Aberdeenshire was among those killed in the crash.

Mr Stuart, 41, from Laurencekirk, was working for the oil field services company Halliburton and was a passenger on the helicopter.
The Airbus Super Puma 225 was travelling from the Gullfaks field to Bergen when it crashed near the small island of Turoey on 29 April.
The pilots had no time to issue a mayday and the main rotor is believed to have become detached before impact.

On Wednesday a preliminary report issued by the Accident Investigation Board Norway (AIBN) said it had found "features strongly consistent with fatigue" in parts of the main gearbox (MGB).

they most likely still wanna pursue the kedah-class contract
its possible and they have come up some concept for it

though for kedah class i think its more suitable to put a more compact system like the nsm
*
agree Kedah class should install NSM compare to Exocet. 2 unit NSM each ship is ok, RIM-116 also can install, but all need budget。
i thinking RMN should plan priority replace those 40 year Perdana, handalan, Jerung class to a 600 tons class patrol boat, hull is same, maybe 2 different weapon configuration.

We have 2 options; either get the downscaled Meko100 from boustead or more of the better-equipped Gagah Samudera class corvette.
*
cost hull not much different because steal is cheap, Meko100 about 1400 tons, Gagah Samudera class corvette about 1300 tons,
but i prefer design new hull, current Meko100 is abit outdated current trend stealth hull and bridge design, Gagah Samudera class almost not design for stealth.

Point is, instead of spending more money on new ship design, it's better if they use existing design and get an appreciable number of vessels with it.
*
Spend more money is for sure。
depend how RMN think, i believe RMN gettting new ship, it will be new hull. i don't think RMN will use Gagah Samudera class hull. max use Meko100 hull with some enhance/modification design。 in DSA 2016 BNS boss said to guest, RMN take very seriously on ship stealth design.
and i believe no problem for BNS to design own 600-1300tons hull navy ship。prefer 600 tons to 900 tons LMV, need to balance between tons/capability/cost. maybe need partner in integration/system/weapon。

military aircraft helicopter usually have 3-4 time crash rate compare to civilian aircraft/Helos。
That why newest design military aircraft also start applying to meet FAA/EASA standard and certification to improve safety standard.

either they use the money to bribe the Pinoys, or actually paid the ransom but denying it, then add some more hush money to the Pinoys to say 'MY didn't pay a signle cent to Abu Sayap'.
or they songlap
seriously, Hamidi's reasoning is too fcking dumb.
*
i think they just find excuse to deny it bcos no county will admit pay ransom .....
for this case like this, no need hu-ha, everyone just understand lah, just let it pass, many case happen involve forener to like in taiwan/china, there family said pay ransom too, but polis said no too. just keep understand, make every easy for next time.
if not future unlucky same happen still can niego, if not future polis can just said no negotiation with terrorist ...than more hard for family.
or attack them solve for one all.
