6 years is nothing... my father's honda samah, bought in 1973. Still runs as smooth. Last proper oil change was 1997.

Not necessary to install kick starter.
If your battery runs flat, pull clutch, up-shift to 2nd gear then jump start.

However, Y15ZR in other countries (Indonesia and Thailand) have kick starter as standard.

Speaking about flat battery for the Y15ZR, if your bike has a recent flat battery, the "check engine" light will come on to indicate.
