I need some advice here. My company annual dinner is having a singing competition. I'm participating and i hv narrow down to 3 choices of song but i dunno which one to choose as im good at all 3. I will be playing guitar with background music (play in CD).

I want to know which is your taste of song, which will excite you or maybe make you stand up to watch or catch your attention.

My songs are: Wonderful Tonight- Eric Clapton, Walking Away- Craig David, and Angels- Robbie Williams.

Please help.

Honestly, among all the 3 songs, i sound best in Wonderful Tonight. But don't you think the song is slow and can't bring the 'mood' among the audiences? Im not sure if this song is suitable for competition, because it may not make the atmsphere 'alive'. (i dunno what word to describe it).

Someone suggested We Will Rock You. It is a more lively song, and can bring up the audience, but for me it's just plain simple short. Doesnt bring my true voice, more like shouting when it comes to chorus.

What do you think?

If you are only singing one song, I recommend an uptempo beat to get the crowd going. Something that everyone can clap their hands will make your song more memorable because of their participation.

Between the three, I suggest Angels as it would allow for more showmanship, Wonderful Tonight probably more appropriate for an intimate setting.

Thank you so much for the advice guys. By considering all the advice i received, i have expand my song choice. Please please help. Which one do you think i should sing? Not to worry about my voice whether it's suitable to sing certain songs or my capability of playing guitar while singing. I'm an experience guys with more than 5 years in music ministry (soprano, tenor, alto, boleh punya tongue.gif). Just that i dun know what song i should sing in competition where im participating for the first time. Too bad they only allow one song and not more, if not i wont be headache.

My new choice:
Save Tonight- Eagle Eye Cherry
Stand by me- Ben E. King

Or perhaps stick to one of the old choice, Angels maybe?

Thank you so much.

ok, its a singing competition, not a easy listening session.
what most judges want to hear is your full range...so pick a song that can show that.
ie. songs with a big dynamic range.
this btw definitely rules out wonderful tonight tongue.gif
