Hey everyone, I'm looking to build myself a home gym in the new future. It's actually one of my dreams, though I've only lifted for around 6 months and look like a DYEL dude. I'm only looking for the bare necessities, just squat/deadlift/bench press all week is fine to me. I just want to know how much the stuffs that I need to do these exercises are gonna cost me. (Squat rack, barbell, plates..?)
Anyone with experience building their own home gym want to share?

QUOTE(DrBarbarian @ May 26 2016, 04:35 AM) flooring - rm20 per piece bench - rm300 pull up bar wall mounted - rm150 weight rack - rm280 parallel bars for dips - rm 280 (used as safety bar when benching and squating too!!) glove, dip belt, strap - couple hundred around rm3k enough to set up your basic home gym Yeah pretty much I was aiming for RM3k too.. Mind asking what the parallel bar looks like? I'm thinking of getting the squat cage but it seems way too costy for ~rm3k price range for whole set. QUOTE(helven @ May 26 2016, 09:02 AM) Just sharing, this is my shopping list https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...entry79242972Outcome Again, this is for lightweight purpose, not commercial gym standard. Lift at your own risk. Looks sweet bro. But that bar doesn't seem to be standard 20kg. Would you recommend all the products imported from china?

QUOTE(killer zone II @ May 30 2016, 09:33 AM) Guys, Johnson Fitness got exhibition at Subang Parade today. It got bench and rack promo at RM1388 with free 1.8m barbell and 15kg (total) plate. Does it good? The rack cost RM690 (if one would like to buy the rack only). Link : Click - Adonis +For me I don't prefer this kind becos u cant squat on it. Better get power cage/half rack like the above posts showed.

QUOTE(killer zone II @ May 30 2016, 04:11 PM) You can do squat. The bench and rack is separate. Btw the suck thing is, the max weight that rack can support is 80kg. If more than that, need to mod (buy the solid holding nut). The one provide not so solid, hence can support just up to 80kg. Yeah that's the problem its not durable/not made for squatting I think (most people squat way more than 80kg). If youre new it can last you maybe 1 year tops. If you're looking for long term strength I suggest getting the stuff people here have already mention. My bench is already at 75kgx5 after about 1 year training. Maybe its good if you don't want to train legs, but they say never skip leg days But if you're into bodybuilding maybe it can last you longer I don't have much experience reading about that though..
