very informative unboxing videos.
for those who can't understand chinese, here's a few important notes:

1. Mi drone legs can be folded for easy storage, but this might becomes another issue later whereby the legs seems to be not as strong as those on DJI drones.
2. Gimbal and camera is removable for easy storage, which is good.
3. Props screws easily get separated if you push down the props when installing the props to the drone.
4. Mi drone is larger than DJI drones in terms of wingspan.
5. There is no way to adjust EV on the controller, big problem for those who wants to manually adjust video/photo brightness.
6. The speed of gimbal going up and down is very slow, no way to adjust the speed like DJI ones.
7. Around 0.5sec delay on the live view video on controller.
8. In general, the features provided on the controller is very limited compare to DJI Phantom 3 controller.
9. Mi drone users will be limited to beginner mode (slower speed, lower altitude etc) for 300 hours. Experienced drone users will be very frustrated.
10. The host suggest those who want to produce professional looking videos to get DJI drone; while those who just wanna try drone without worrying too much on the video quality can consider Mi drone.

Thank you for the video .
I have been using Mi product for years (Smart item) , they never fail to impress me . Just sometimes it might be unstable , but they can fix it really fast like in week .

okay back to topic ,

Speaking as a RC Hobbyist , the main thing i concern when i buying drones are :
1) Technology they used - Like DJI Phantom 4 , YUNEEX Typhoon H ( IMHO > P4 )
- Giving you confidence when flying

2)After sales support
- Firmware problem ? Bricked ? What to do if something happend ?

3) read tons of reviews from western people ( they are quite picky , so it's good to read their review )

4) Cost of Battery ( as Mi promised that it will be less than RMB500 per piece )
- When we fly , we dont fly for 20min / 1 pack battery only .
5) Resell Value
-For me , i usually hunt for used item , some may drop 40% some drop 60% base on condition

6) Camera Quality - Most important now adays , 4K is very simple a must inorder to attract customer , but not all screen can output 4k and when edit the video can eventually kill lol tongue.gif
7) Parts - What if i crash it ? Props ? I will never want to order from overseas ( expensive shipping fees , wait time )

no comment for 1, 2 and 3

4. if you follow proper procedure of handling and caring a lipo, it can last around 2-3 years depends on how often you fly

5. it wont depreciate much i guess? most likely buyer will see from the exterior look since there is no mileage like cars, i guess most of the drone will end up in total loss before they managed to sell it

6. 4k is only pixels, there are other factor to consider as well, but more pixel count allow you perform resize, crop and post-stabilization better

7. buy aftermarket parts if they are compatible and using standard screws thumbup.gif the thing is order from overseas is sometime cheaper than buying from local shops, not just RM10-20 cheaper but a large margin or it

i would prefer a hexacopter or octocopter anything, at least if 1 motor fail the drone will remain in the air and at least able return to base to save my camera and prevent collateral damage

i guess one of the major concern is that drone are getting cheaper and easily accessible to public, some fly it without any knowledge and understand the cause and effect, really worry if one day drone crash and injured or kill somebody, even bangla can own a drone nowadays

What to do , some lhs just sell it without proper training.

For the 6 motors thingy , not all hexacopter has the same function . Some if lost one motor , it will straight lost control . And well , depends on flight controller.

Where are you located? Maybe we should meet up and fly together smile.gif

original quote from uraki, added some point by the video review

1. Mi drone legs can be folded for easy storage, but this might becomes another issue later whereby the legs seems to be not as strong as those on DJI drones.
2. Gimbal and camera is removable for easy storage, which is good. the round design of the camera helps in aerodynamic when flying at high speed
3. Props screws easily get separated if you push down the props when installing the props to the drone. but if you crash, props without the screw is cheaper to buy and ship (that what he said) because its only plastic/rubber cheaper costing.(60% cost on the screw, and 40% of the propeller, so expect replacement props at 40% price of competitor)
4. Mi drone is larger than DJI drones in terms of wingspan.
5. There is no way to adjust EV on the controller, big problem for those who wants to manually adjust video/photo brightness. (big deal breaker for Pro, hopefully they add it in future firmware/app update)
6. The speed of gimbal going up and down is very slow, no way to adjust the speed like DJI ones.
7. Around 0.5sec delay on the live view video on controller. (the further the distant between the drone and controller, the delay will increase too)
8. In general, the features provided on the controller is very limited compare to DJI Phantom 3 controller.
9. Mi drone users will be limited to beginner mode (slower speed, lower altitude etc) for the first 300 hours. there is no known way to unlock it yet. Experienced drone users will be very frustrated.
10. The host suggest those who want to produce professional looking videos to get DJI drone; while those who just wanna try drone without worrying too much on the video quality can consider Mi drone.

UPDATE:

My friend bought this direct from Mi in China , Guess what , first flight already crash due to battery problem.

I think they need more R&D on this new technology ,
their phone is real good , but not with drone .
