Good to hear that there are still some caring W140 owners. Sometimes it's sad to see some W140 being abandon because the owner either can't maintain or can't find the right spare parts.
Just in front of my house there is a W220 left abandon for months. Nobody claims it or fix it.

Just curious is the 2.8L undersized for such huge car?
Could be the wear and tear parts are pricey. If not mistaken, I have read on MB mags or online that the air suspension on W220 can be a very expensive fix if it goes wrong [UK magazine but likely applicable to any W220/221 as well.

Some W220s I have seen the rear suspensions whacked - car sitting too close to the ground...

Not too sure about W220 engines, but so far the 2.8 in my family's W140 is decent. Mostly used for highway driving cos in town, it can be a bit cumbersome to drive.
