light sensor - this is common, most of new phones nowadays got tat, k800i, n73, w810i etc etc
accelerometer - tat is for the multitouch technology.. on screen control, without the use of stylus..
light sensor aka ambience sensor - to throttle the backlight for energy saving. e.g. in dark environment, backlight don't have to be so strong.accelerometer - tat is for the multitouch technology.. on screen control, without the use of stylus..
Nope, accelerometer is not for multitouch. Currently, it is mainly used to detect orientation of phone whether it is potrait or landscape mode. It is possible they incorporate other uses for it, like manipulating some UI based on (non-touch) gestures .. sorta like Wiimote?
About the availability in Asia only in 2008:
- hopefully drive price a bit lower
- 2nd revision - fix bugs from first revision
- introduced SDK during WWDC in June so that third-party developers can tweak their apps, create new ones for it
- 3G
- WiMax
- Larger capacity
- some China company reverse engineer it and hack it to run on their clone ala osx86
