methinks there aren't gonna be a 3G version. Probably just jump from EDGE to WiMax.

And, is there even a lubang for you to put ur sim carD? Malaysian users don't get your hopes up yet, since its exclusive to AT&T in the US, they might have a built in SIM or something.

For those who thinks there are already existing products that trumps this, we'll have to wait and see how smooth the OS flows. Personally i am more interested in the web browsing WIFI capability.

Hmm just read that it does indeed have a sim tray.

Anyway, theres a huge 3G gg-fied recently in US. A lot of 3G stuff are affected by it, and if President Bush choose to embargo one company's 3G technology the whole 3G market in the US could be crippled. iPhone is not affected tho, they can still implement the 3G later as the company they are working with holds the rightful patent.

If most of the market is crippled, i doubt the carriers will work on 3G coverage in the near future. That's why i think iPhone will skip the 3G. But there may be 3G versions for export, although i dont think its been in apple's history to have such significant spec difference for different regions.

Hmm, for the price it's plenty good already. And i think the iphone wont update as often as other phone/smartphones.

Yeah, the hardware specs leaves you something to think about. But what makes it worth that much is the software. Of coz for fellow malaysians the simple software that we use everyday are free (*ahem*), but for mat salehs intellectual rights are worth a lot.

I think the software more than justifies the price smile.gif IF it works as demo-ed

Infos out, need to pay an activation fee to use all the features of iphone << such a ripoff.

And the cheapest plan is $60, and the minutes given are kinda an overkill for me.

Don't mean to advertise here, but i really want to get my mitts on iphone real bad so i decided to start a bulk. As i am not sure how much the tax and handling charges is, right now i dare not state an over low price so i say it is 2.5k.

Can all the abang's here who are pro go in to the thread and tell people about the goods and bads of gettin iphone in malaysia. What works and what doesnt, and when will the 3G iphone reach our shores. And those who know how much tax/shipping will be incurred can please pm me and teach me.

Hey derred, your response is greatly appreciated. The tax i was referring to is actually the tax on Malaysian side, but thanks for letting me know there is also a tax on the USA side.

Are you in USA now? Perhaps you can help with my bulk?

Erm, i dont really understand what u mean but with my bulk u just pay either 2000 or 2500 depending on whether u want to share the risk with me, and guarantee can use with digi and celcom. I believe maxis sooner or later oso will be able to use but... i dont really care.

Re firmware updates relocking the phone, i think probably will lock the phone but why would u need to update the firmware if its working fine?
