Hey derred, your response is greatly appreciated. The tax i was referring to is actually the tax on Malaysian side, but thanks for letting me know there is also a tax on the USA side.

Are you in USA now? Perhaps you can help with my bulk?

Nope. Yeah technically yes. But that is if u created a new account. That is one of the reason I went for it (iPhone). Even the bill is not so bad. If u already have an account just plus 20 to whatever u paid before. So say I pay 28 for previous bill, then I have to pay 48 for iPhone. Say if it is 10, then 30.

iPhone without contract from apple will not be in the price you see now.
Apple get a cut from ATT as ppl subscribe to the call plans. And ATT also have a deal of bearing some cost for the iPhone. That's why it's ATT exclusive. If not, why you think Apple want to play nice with ATT... lol.

Wow, maxis is intelligent enough to know how to differentiate iPhones from non-iPhones? I find that hard to believe biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I'm not saying it's not possible to do so technically. I'm just saying that Maxis which to me is the least agile and innovative telco in Malaysia, would grok the iPhone so early on and intelligently (or stupidly) block all iPhones from receiving incoming calls on their network. I haven't seen Maxis being so proactive before.

Dun get me wrong ya. Not trying to accuse u / ur statement.
I'm just trying to portray something else. ah... nvm... since no one get it.

ok, back to the issue. I've been talking with a telco guy... He explain to me that "Maxis techinician don't know what they're doing". So, go figure what he trying to tell me. And lastly, there's also some tibits saying maxis not interested with iphone as they have contract with blackberry.

Time to consider switching telco... have a good weekend.

well you should tell them you'll be switching telcom providers and so will all other iphone users, unless they fix the problem smile.gif

seriously though, I will be considering switching to digi if this problem isn't fixed by the end of october (when i get my iphone).

She gave you a bullshit answer. There is "no way to unlock"? Then why does it work with Digi and Celcom?

And what about international roaming? Imagine if you could not roam your phone in any country where that model of phone was in the shops! Many legit iPhone users will travel here and expect to be able to use their phones.

simple answer. yes at&t sell iphone without requiring any activation. I went there, said i want Iphone without activation, they asked which one, I said 8 gig, I gave them 430usd(taxed), they give me the iphone. I get out from there, without anybody waiting at the door forcing me to activate tongue.gif

The new iphone firmware is coming:

http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/14/iphone-...rt-coming-soon/

The firmware can hopefully 1. not disable the hack 2. fix maxis incoming calls with this new 'international support' feature.

fingers crossed.
