This link have all of the current unlocking methods available at Hackint0sh forums, compiled into a single post for easy reference.

http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7889

From AnySIM.pp, AnySIM.pxl, right up to opening your iPhone and hardwiring it. Pick your poison, and do your research carefully before you pick a method. And once you have started on a particular method, STICK with it, DO NOT change to a different one, you may mistakenly do the same process twice, and most often, by doing this, you screw up your unlocking and end up with either partial failures, or worse, a total brick.

The PACAY Youtube reactivation is also included in that link i provided.

Exactly! No phones so far had the battery fully encased and non-removable (at least not by the traditional means) like the iPhone. They could always make the sticker somewhat transparent, but i doubt Sirim would make such exception for it.

My iPhone still has not zits, she exfoliates every night. A BIG Sirim zit , that is! laugh.gif

Just came back from mamak with another would-be iPhone user, his will be arriving on the 6th next month.

One of the discussion that came up was what software used to do video conversion. Both of us are discerning (read:picky) about our videos, so the software options came up.

Im not sure what others are using to their video conversion, but i find that conversion using Apple's own Quicktime provides the best looking video on the iPhone. I use MPEG Streamclip to convert any video files not recognized by Quicktime, into Quicktime .mov format, and then export the result into Quicktime using the dropdown option into "Movie to iPod". The result? No more grainy, pixelated movies unlike the results i used with Video 9, and such.

What are the others using to convert videos to the iPhone?

Added on September 28, 2007, 12:42 amI have not tried, but for me, i'd assume that most people would be using the SAME method they used to unlock their 1st iPhone to be used on their subsequent iPhone. Seeing how my iPhone works beautifully on the iUnlock method, im sticking with that.

The link i provided before has the collection of methods used, as well as links for the files needed to do the unlocking.

I would accepted the quality/time tradeoff, tishaban...........but i've this thinking that the iPhone and the upcoming iPod Touch are considered premium/highend electronics that deserves nothing but the best it could have including the video part as well, so i stuck it out with this. I could easily used Videora/Video 9, or other numerous plethora of video converters for the iPod. I just cant accept graininess at any level on the iPhone, but that's probably's just me and my OCD. smile.gif

It has begun!

None of the bugfixes, or the updates really get me excited on upgrading, so im sticking with 1.0.2. Do better next update, Apple. Until the next indication that the firmware is safe for the unlock, im staying put.

Update on the 1.1.1 Jailbreaking development:-

It appears that those who uses the IPSF app WITH an activated AT&T sim card would be safe from this relocking menace. Other methods and/or other sim card combos are still caught and brought back to jail. This include the AnySIM app/method, which gives an "Incorrect SIM" message on all sim card used. Those who uses the IPSF app WITH the activated AT&T sim card however, can only use the AT&T card, other cards will give the "Incorrect SIM" message as well.

I still have the AT&T sim card, but not activated. Hmmmmm...

Just subscribed to unlimited EDGE from Digi, but have to wait till tomorrow to activate the sim card. From the test made at the Digi center, EDGE works smoothly, and surprisingly......fast!? In fact, i was comparing it with Celcom 3G, upon loading same URL location, between the two, and the EDGE connection loads it faster than the 3G!

So a week of testing the EDGE line to see if it is viable enough to replace Celcom 3G before i permanently disconnect Celcom 3G. The thing is, i was conned and lied upon when i wanted the switch to daily Mobile Broadband, from the earlier add that claims that the daily Mobile Broadband from Celcom which taps into the HSDPA network, that it will give me that elusive "up to 3.6 Mbps" download line. Turns out that Celcom could never achieve that speed, in fact now it is locked to 384kbps, with the "up to 1.8 Mbps" available only to data subscribers on the RM120. No way am i gonna get conned twice....., once Digi EDGE proved its viability, bye bye Celcom 3G!Maybe when you truly provide the speeds you claim Celcom, then i'd consider you again.

RM99 EDGE unlimited. Of course not as fast as Streamyx, but i'd take any connection available over nothing. Like i said, i've been stung by the inadequacies of Celcom, and am looking for alternatives. Will be testing the EDGE to see how it performs with my iPhone, then only decide if im satisfied enough to terminate my Celcom 3G, and stick with only a voice plan.

RM99 Unlimited EDGE Data plan only, no voice. You can add RM10 on top of that for voice, but what it is im not inclined to bother, since im still sticking with my Celcom voice plan.

Only purchases from Apple Online Store. Reports from the guys at Hackint0sh still indicated older stocks of 1.0.2 , some even 1.0.1. from Apple Stores and AT&T counters. In the meantime, there's this peculiar itch on my palms lately........either i didnt wash my hands properly after eating that nasi beriani with mamak kari for fast-breaking, .........or something's indicating towards a certain 16GB Touch subconsciously calling to be mine. Resist!!!!

1. Looks like the firmware downgrader works, for those with 1.1.1 iPhones. Refer to the link that Irwan has provided.

2. Im testing DiGi's EDGE today for the second day. Works like a charm. Here are the settings:-

APN: diginet
username: blank
password: blank

3. I am using the iPhone with a screen protector as well. The screen protector comes with the clear case + belt holster from the picture i posted before. ZERO affect on the screen sensitivity, works just like when it is without it.

Trixx, if you're reluctant to keep the 1.1.1 iPhone, how much are you selling? I might be interested.

Nullriver's Installer.app servers seems to be down, you can either access partial listing or no refresh at all. Am looking for Apollo IM but looks like we have to wait till it's up again.

Tested Digi's EDGE coverage/ signal and data download rates, and I'm fairly satisfied. Tomorrow, i'm gonna disconnect Celcom 3G from my Celcom account, and only leave the minutes plan.

Seeing how the same questions get asked over and over again, I may post the accumulated wealth of info available on Hackint0sh forum and post them here into a single post/ thread. Questions like number prefixes, phone restores using what versions of iTunes, how to restore.......hell, even basics like how to delete pictures and songs from your iPhones should already be a part of the basic knowledge on how to operate an iPhone. The threads in Hackint0sh forum covers all the unlocking needs while a simple download of the manual of the iPhone in PDF format covers the rest.

It pays to know what things you are doing before you follow them blindly. I'm surprised that people just simply press Home+Power buttons without knowing explicitly what this action does. If I'm evil, I can just simply write a guide to destroy your iPhone but instead post it as an unlocking guide. It pays to do little reading on what the processes in the step-by-step guide does.

Posting this on the KLIA Express train on my way home.

I have a SMS question for the iPhone. Can it receive flash SMS and SMS with no caller number i.e. instead of number it is in text e.g. "Citibank"?
*
No.

Anyone experience problems with the new Celcom SIM? I tried with the SIM I just got and it didn't work, I got this error 'Fixed Number Dialling". However, I tried with another Celcom SIM which I obtained few months ago works flawlessly... Both are 128K 3G SIM, but the new one looks completely different from a normal SIM.

Change to 64K sim card. Problem solved.

Any problems or queries, you can do a search at www.hackint0sh.org.

Look for the iPhone section and do your search for any queries there. This include:-

1 - How to unlock: Go to the Unlocking section. Two options, AnySIM or iUnlock.
2 - How to avoid non-caller ID appearing on your iPhone (you dont have to edit your entire contact database). Go here.
3 - How to restore your iPhone when your iPhone freezes after installing non-supported 3rd party applications. My own personal advice? Download all the available firmware images files in .ipsw format , so that you have the choice of restoring to a particular firmware when needed to. Press ALT in iTunes when initiating a restore to choose which firmware file to restore to.
4 - How to customise your iPhone , currently two solutions, they are Summerboard and Customise, both apps can be downloaded via Installer.app, iFuntastic on Mac or iBrickr on WinXP. Personal preference? Summerboard. Themes are downloadable via Installer.app on your iPhone.
5 - How to unlock a 1.1.1 to a working 1.0.2 iPhone MINUS the phone functions. Go here.
6 - How to sync songs, photos and contacts to your iPhone. This can easily be referred to the downloadable iPhone User Guide in PDF form, at www.apple.com/iphone
7 - How to set the voicemail button on the Phone tab to your current voicemail shortcut key.
8 - How to re-enable your Youtube once you have gone through the entire unlocking process. The unlocking process either patches or rewrtie the baseband file, which disables, among other things, the Youtube on your iPhone. To re-enable this, search for an application called PACAY, it's a single batch file that does the re-enabling in a single click, doesnt get any easier for virgin unlockers out there. Go here.
9 - How to break the 8Gb barrier for storage content ? Stream it! Use TVersity for PC, or EyeTV for Mac, or if you are looking for other MP3s, use Seeqpod.com. Type www.seeqpod.com on your Safari, and stream it!
10 - How to do instant messenging on your iPhone? Pick your poison, either via webpage or native. For webpage method, go to www.meebo.com, for native IM app, look for ApolloIM on your Installer.app
11 - How to turn your iPhone into a light saber? Look for iSaber on your iBrickr. iSaber will not appear on your Installer.app
12 - How to simulate GPS-like functions on your iPhone - use Navizon GPS. Careful, this app had frozen my iPhone twice.
13 - How to download and listen to podcasts without syncing to iTunes? Get MobileCast from your Installer.app
14 - How to turn off your EDGE separately? Get "Services" from your Installer.app
15 - How to upload , share and download any type of file using your iPhone? Get iShare from your Installer.app

How i think i have covered the bases here when it comes to most of the common questions asked here, so please , so a little bit of looking up , Google or fcuk, head to Hackint0sh.org forum , chances are, your questions are answered there. Dont EXPECT to be spoonfed information like a day-old baby chick.

I am using the 64k sim card, which i have traded in from the 128k sim card, because the 128k card doesnt work in my n95. Works fine from the the first moment of unlock till now. What unlocking method did you use?
