Hi, i just bought HP laptop model 15-AB570TX from Harvey Norman.

Price isn't that much different from Lowyat Notebook Garage Sale Forum and Lazada. The plus point is i got to use 12 months easy payment plan with 0% interest. Price after 6% GST is RM2,399.

The thing is after i brought it back and turned it on, i found one bright white pixel, i dont know if it is stuck pixel or dead pixel.

The merchant told me Harvey Norman does have 10 days 1 to 1 exchange policy if the product suffered from manufacturing defect such as battery problem etc etc but

can they give 1 to 1 exchange for dead pixel problem?

Anyone ever encountered this problem before really appreciate if you could share your experience.

Thank you!

depend manufacturer warranty policy. and also resolution of ur screen. higher resolution required more dead pixel to be consider faulty. because higher resolution mean u have far more pc(s) of pixel, hence higher chances any pixel(s) faulty.

usually the dead pixel policy is more than just one but I am not 100% sure. you can bring it back and show it to them and see what will they say.

Well, a per HP dead pixel policy it is minimum 5 to be considered faulty, but i was wondering about Harvey Norman 10 days 1-1 exchange policy.

It is not like that, i will still bring it back to Harvey Norman this afternoon, after work. Just that its good to listen to others who have similar problem, so in case i need to fight the case with Harvey Norman, i know what to say.

I still got until this afternoon before i can bring it back to Harvey Norman, so why not open a thread here who knows i can get lucky, might find a few more good information or might find a few more useful people with useful reply to this thread biggrin.gif

There are similar problem but not in Malaysia, whereas the merchant told this guy he cant exchange the product but after insisting, they willing to exchange it but for only once, but this is a real special case he say, normally Harvey Norman wont let people exchange their product for that reason.

I think so, but it is understandable if dead pixel found after 4-5 days, this is a straightaway spot as soon as i turn on the laptop.

This is like, you cant return when you make your laptop small scratch after few days but if there is scratch right after open boxing, i think you have the right to return it.

If you can't do 1-1 exchange with Harvey Norman, I suggest to enquire the HP Malaysia for the exchange. Anyhow you still have the rights to get a problem-free device after the amount of money you paid. Fingers crossed you're able to get 1-1 exchange with Harvey Norman later this afternoon. icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks man, yup i have rights to get a problem-free device. I can accept if it is minor cosmetic issue but dead pixel, will be a pain in the eye.

Yes, u r right..so u should have opened it immediately at the store and check for defects, not take it back home and check

Once u walked out of the store, the laptop isnt new anymore and technically u dont have proof that the laptop has a dead pixel right out of the box, unless if u opened in front of them

So it all depends whether harvey want to accept or not as they r not obliged to accept..if they ask u what proof u have that the dead pixel is there right out of the box, u cannot say anything dy

This is based on past experience..thats why i always check on the spot

Good luck

But still, dead pixel isn't something that i can fake myself. Like scratch it might be my own mistake upon handling the laptop..but dead pixel, i dont even know how to make one. haha.

For what it's worth, a dead pixel is dark (black), a stuck pixel is bright. Hope they give you a new laptop!! biggrin.gif

I had a stuck pixel on my old ASUS G75, and on an old Toshiba laptop, too. Stuck pixel fixer never worked for me either. sad.gif
