Guys, I've been out of the Android game for too long (an iOS user mostly) but I recently got myself a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 running Android 5.0.2. Am trying to transfer files from PC to the tablet but try as I may with many different cables, including the original one, my laptop just won't recognize the tablet. Is there some step I'm missing? If I remembered correctly I can just plug in any Android device into a PC and it will be able to see the device and the files inside... That's suppose to be it's advantage over iOS... Sigh...

Try to go to settings - developer options and check box on debugging options.

Actually when plug in the ori cable it wont even charge, it shows a red cross on the battery and written there "Device Charging Slowly". Im convinved the unit is faulty and bringing it to service centre tomorrow. I gave up on Samsung since Note 3 but since they came back with a lighter TouchWiz and better premium materials on their devices i thought i give them another try. Looks like it's still useless.

QUOTE(attw @ May 20 2016, 09:56 PM) Cant find any developer options in settings QUOTE Go to the settings menu, and scroll down to "About phone." Tap it. Scroll down to the bottom again, where you see "Build number." (Your build number may vary from ours here.) Tap it seven (7) times. See if you can find the debugging options after you enabled developer settings.

Have no issue with my note 3. Go SC check for your device, maybe faulty unit. Touchwiz isn't my favourite from long time ago, when I get Samsung or any other brand device, I will straight change to Google Stock theme.

I do see this problem from time to time with different android device. Sometimes there is a solution to it and sometimes it simply isn't any. Anyway, just to transfer files you can just download an app that support transfer over WiFi will do. AirDroid ES File Explorer etc

Touchwiz isn't my favourite from long time ago, when I get Samsung or any other brand device, I will straight change to Google Stock theme. Previously I had one experience of my Note 3 overheating.. To a point whereby it felt like it was going to burn a hole in my pocket, ha ha. The old TouchWiz was a pain in the neck, even 3GB of RAM was insufficient. Also, the battery life deteriorated badly within a year of using the device... Anyways, I brought the Tab S2 to the service centre today and another customer before me had the same issue with her Tab S2 8.0 (mine is 9.7). They acknowledged the problem but couldn't repair it for me immediately as they mentioned they didn't have the parts. Unbelievable. Have to wait 3 working days. Anyway, plan to sell it off when I get it back, effectively ending my experiment with the new and improved Samsung.

Thought Nexus 5 have only 2GB RAM, but it's smooth than Note 3. Yes I know because of Touchwiz made Note 3 not so smooth. So I gave up for Touchwiz long time ago too.

Just a quick update before i close this thread, Samsung changed the charging port of my S2 tablet and it still wouldn't charge normally, so they changed the entire MOBO and it seems to be working now.
