They still need profit otherwise they will close down eventually like RAKUTEN. So far their prices r still cheaper than retail shops. Honestly less joy in buying cos no more fantastic offers. Spent rm10k+ in 2015 wif savings of rm4000+.

won't be surprised if they close down in a few years. malaysians still buy because of discounts

ali spent 1 Billion to buy lazada, dont know if its RMB or RM or US, it does not make any difference as its still heaps of Millions of dollars.
dont think they dumb, they probably spend heaps of money and time on feasibility reports.
from memory i think their intention is to have list more chinese products ie chinese vendors

p.s. lazada is not only limited to malaysia,
singapore, thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, places where they may not have a gemfive/11street or similar competitor.
