Hi Veejay, I have been advised to avoid buying Sorento as the experience from car service center is they see more problems with Sorento then any other models that they have come across. They also justify by saying that is the reason the 2nd hand value is reduced by 50% just into year 4. So it kind of frighten me as cost of maintenance is one thing but having to live without cars could be a nightmare.
Hmm interesting, did they mention what kinda problem?
Kia had always been on a bad RV in Msia, so thats a given fact.
Moreover SUV market price is even worse, and thats a fact.
But when you look at actual numbers, their price reduction aint that bad...its just market perception.
Lets Look at available D segment (2014 model)
Mazda CX-9 rm280k -> 100K
Sorento RM160K -> 60k
Harrier RM 250k -> 120K
Ok coming to the car itself, When i bought the car, (2013 model-same as yours; bought on 2017;) it still had warranty. The previous owner changed the steering rack as warranty claim, and I had warranty claim on steering button.
Those are the only repairing I did till now, others are just wearNtear
As for parts, I get it from main distributor or spare parts shop, and give it to repair shop to change them.
There is one LYN seller from rawang who had very competitive price, compared to market price, and another in subang which i frequent.
I dont find the parts are pricey, its pretty close to any other SUV in its segment. Obviously part prices at Service Center itself are pricey on selected parts.
I would suggest prior to buying the car, bring it to the SC and had to checked/diagnosed bumper to bumper, together with service/repair history. It only cost RM80-110
Any other question?
