I've only used it (more like testing) for a few hours and who knows, bugs may crop up later. Depending on the installed and frequently used addons, I don't see why not. As with Jarvis earlier, I use it mainly for streaming online content. Remember, there's a customized version for Minix boxes... Even though the official Jarvis or Krypton is capable, I prefer using that for local file playback and full on library.
Haven't had to use a build for awhile and when I did, preferred The Beast. As always, install new builds on a clean Kodi install.

Running a build on Krypton? Also hardware? Might explain the sluggishness... UI, Startup and Shutdown is smooth over here, same on the PC. Besides, this is the first stable release version, data is being gathered and further improvements will be implemented in 17.x versions.

Public knowledge? Yes.. but it didn't use to be and doesn't have to be.. I'm not stressed.. Just concerned. In case some haven't noticed.. I've been sharing less and less new stuff cuz apparently most can't seem to keep such things in their "pants".... Been a Kodi user for years, still use it for 95%+ of all streaming needs.. So far, none of the take-downs have affected my steaming needs one bit. Things have been happening for a long time and MPAA, Big Media, etc have been aware but let sleeping lions be.. Cuz why? It was noisy yet quiet.. Not anymore... If all played their parts and controlled their urges.. We probably won't be (or at minimum seriously delayed) having the massive take-downs being experienced..
Try SuperRepo... Most times, as long as a repo has it.. Once an addon requires the urlresolver addon, its gets auto-installed too.

like max says, try it - kodi17.3 since it is android5.1.
u never know what u get!
but be prepared if it does not work too well since it is 1/8gb and one of the first 5.1's.

i personally have given up kodi 17 or 16 with older boxes.
too much work (to keep up), too slow, not worth my time.
better use it for other purposes/apps.
