Excuse me, isn't xbmc the old name for Kodi ?

    Setup ADB and connect

        adb connect usb

    Install SPMC Launcher

        adb install -r SPMC-armeabi-v7a_16.4.2_launcher.apk

    Disable the leanback launcher

        adb shell pm hide com.google.android.leanbacklauncher

    reboot

Thanks to dumb0001 who sent me a fix, and saved me having to figure it out the hard way myself, icdrama 1.7.0 has now been released.  You can all update your plugin at the usual place:

updated mibox to android8?

it shudn't affect any app but possible an issue if u previously have external storage adopted as internal.
someone reported this in nvidia shield which also uses androidtv:

if that's not it, u shud go internal/android/data/org.xbmc.kodi, copy this folder on usb.
(check the size of this folder - if too big, too much inside, u are running out of storage.)
then u erase entirely, reinstall, copy and paste back that folder, all is like before.

Probably something in the update broke Kodi. If you can, reflash the older firmware, launch Kodi and backup.. Then update back to the latest box update.. Should you uninstall, sure everything gone..

Oh yeah.. Thanks for the assist.. I'm so used to keeping proper healthy backups. Forgot about the manual folder copy and replace method. Though, I doubt this might work well, cuz if the boot up files are already corrupted, then can't be helped as you'll just be copying over the same corrupted files.
