But not all Flash Drives work on Apple machines, isn't it?

I had a few flash drives which would work on an IBM but when I put it on the Mac it just doesn't read and tells me it needs reformatting. Could it be that it's not compatible, or perhaps it was in FAT32 format?

Speaking of which, my Flash Drive kinda disappeared.. need a replacement
