Just checking, when ure making a call, does the contact name appear or just the nunber?
Mine is showing number only

When it's connecting, means from "Contact" press the person's name then instead of their name or pict appearing, only their number is there

Not necessarily as I did mine without problem with global dev rom

Sometimes u have to make sure that the drivers are installed properly, clean ROM etc as these tools can be very picky

Anyway I wanna ask, are u guys facing this issue when u remove your headphones/earphones, the music app will start playing music automatically over the speaker? Eg, u use the earphones for calling then u unplug it.
Seems like a bug that has been passed on for generations. Any proper solutions to that?

I was using it for handsfree call, then when I unplug the music app will automatically play music

Try this, when doing nothing, plug in your headset and see what happens
If nothing happens, unplug it again to see if the music app starts playing

Are you using their default music app?

I'm using their MI piston earphones with mic and vol control button

Got mine from DirectD as well, price is not as cheap as compared to Gem5 or Lazada. 699 for 16gb/2gb RAM version at DirectD but if add a bit more can get 32gb/3gb RAM from Gem5 or Lazada

In terms of software, it came installed with some other launcher and software but just to be sure, always flash units bought from unofficial retailer to the official Global stable/dev ROM wherever you can

If you want the MIUI8 that is based on MM, it is available out there in the wild
But its not meant for normal users though, probably too buggy and they're still fixing it

As long as you're getting the snapdragon variant, you'll be fine as MIUI Global Rom only available for Snapdragon only as of now. Once u flash your device to the GlobalRom, there is not differences with those purchased from mi.com/my except for the warranty coverage.

If you're getting mediatek, you'll be stuck with the MIUI China rom which doesn't come with Google apps by default. But can be added later easily.

Using MIUI8 ChinaDev ROM (6.6.17)
So far my experience with it quite positive. Although it came preinstalled with those China apps, it can be easily uninstalled.

Chances are they installed a vendor ROM for you

Your best solution here is to flash your phone to the official GlobalStable ROM downloaded from MIUI

Just use the built in updater app to update to latest ROM
Unless you want to move to other official ROM such as China Stable, China Dev or Global Dev
If you want to flash other customized ROM, u'll need to unlock the bootloader first

Which telco are you using?
Snapdragon variant should be able to support most of the LTE bands
