I've been trying to root my phone but I every time I flash the modified boot.img and recovery.img, my WiFi is disabled and I can't turn it on no matter how many times I've tried. Any ideas?

QUOTE(GameSky @ May 5 2016, 11:03 PM) mac r no good *cough cough Nope, no good. Using Developer ROM, the phone booted but I can't connect to WiFi. At the very least, I have root just flash this file in recovery after you flashed the rom, and you're good to go..no need to "cook" credit to some guy in xda forums Scirwode |

After a number of tries and what not, finally got my RN3 rooted and with WiFi working. Had to do a number of diagnostics and trial and error to get it working. Thanks @GameSky for the flashable boot.img zip, that worked
Now got AdAway and Titanium Backup running, as well as Google DNS on my phone Scirwode |

Just came back from Mi 2nd Anniversary event. A lot of games was played, with a lot of gifts. The grand prize winners scored Mi 5 and Redmi Note 3's. I too scored several gifts, including a unique Mi Headphones Pro and below:
It was a very good event and everyone there really felt appreciated! Scirwode |

QUOTE(freddy manson @ May 6 2016, 04:02 PM) It's not that hard, all you have to do is just turn on AdAway's Log DNS Request and monitor the ads that plays during the game you want it to unblock:
QUOTE(deblyrie @ May 8 2016, 11:43 AM) Yes, it is the 10000 enhanced powerbank. And it is really light, though the 20000 powerbank is lighter still. But it is too bulky while the 10000 is very slim that I can put it into my pants pocket. As for the Mi5, some lucky guy who got a shock of his life (literally, from the look of his face QUOTE(Oblah @ May 8 2016, 12:39 PM) No idea, but there is a Global ROM for Mi5, but you have to dig deep into MIUI forums to get it.QUOTE(GameSky @ May 8 2016, 07:20 PM) just ask yourself: Indeed, I am of the same mindset as well. I started my smartphone journey with an iPhone 2G and every since then I have always been an early adopter of phones, starting with HTC Desire (running on Android 2.0 with HTC Sense) up to my Lumia 1020 (WP8 and WP10 Beta). Most of the phones I have bought before have been priced at RM2000 and above but with the RN3, it has all I need in a mobile phone, and then some.> not confident to spent over rm1k pick sub 1k phone unless you're choosy bout specs, camera n so on..might save yourself some money lol imo, not really worth much to spend over 1k for a phone..every months sure got new version comes out..hence that's why i choose this phone Honestly speaking, I believe the days of spending RM2000+ on a phone are coming to an end. Even with the Mi5, I am struggling to find reasons to buy it, because even with all that processing power and high specs, you will mostly be using it as a phone first. And for me , I need to ensure I am always accessible, either from family and work, and with the dual SIM in RN3, it allows me that comfort. Scirwode |

QUOTE(vanpersie91 @ May 11 2016, 08:45 AM) Do we really need NFC? I remember my old Xperia S came with NFC back in 2012, and in the package was several NFC toggles to turn to work mode and what not. I stuck it on my monitor and used it once. After that I completely forgot about it!Scirwode |

QUOTE(joedpa82 @ May 15 2016, 09:45 PM) Have to wait until the Beta / Developer is released in June. Still wondering if it is still Lollipop based or on Marshmallow, meaning we will have Google on Tap. Also, I'm interested in Cloning, allowing you to run two instances of a program on the same phone, meaning I can have a Twitter account for personal or work and my favourite, two WhatsApp accounts! No more GBWhatsApp QUOTE(GameSky @ May 16 2016, 07:54 AM) How's your experience with Camera FV5? Tried the demo but couldn't do anything much as it saved in a very pixel small image of 160 px or so.Was trying out Manual Camera but pulled out after it showed a lack of updates. I had Camera Pro once but it's now abandonware. QUOTE(iphone @ May 15 2016, 09:59 PM) I was using RN3 with Mi Band - no problem. Last week I changed to Mi Band Pulse, again no battery drain problem. My side all good luckily. Me too. I find a bit strange with all the battery problems and what not as it has been smooth sailing for me. And my phone is rooted.Scirwode |

QUOTE(kurtkob78 @ Jun 15 2016, 05:52 PM) should be sufficient, just to make things dark to extend battery life. even wallpaper i will change to black. Err... there are limits to what you can do to extend battery life. RN3 uses IPS LCD, so it is one screen by itself unlike AMOLED, which is individual diodes. The thing is, I've been reading about people posting on trying to extend battery life by not updating and what not, is it really that important? At the end of the day, you still have to charge it.At the end of the day, it still has limitations. You don't need to extend to the point where it becomes anal. Besides, what are powerbanks for P.S. My RN3 on Global Beta will always end up with about 50% charge at the end of the day after heavy calls, SMS, WhatsApp, WiFi and not, the next morning it will have about 45% until I get to work and until the middle of the day I will probably charge it. Really, the battery life of RN3 is very good, there is no need to go to extreme lengths just to extend a couple of minutes. Scirwode |
