QUOTE(jagadis @ May 22 2016, 10:55 PM)
For those who are asking. 2gb is more than enough for normal usage. If you're playing a considerably heavy game and would like to straight jump into chrome and open a few tabs, you might push it to use more ram but if you are the kind who exits games or don't even play heavy games really, even 1gb is enough.
Stop being too obsesed about ram. As for the 16gb internal its more than enough for me. I only use Spotify so no need for music in the phone. The 16gb is only for WhatsApp media (which I clear from time to time), android, apps and their data and a little bit of media (screen captures and downloads)
I also have a 64gb high speed microsd carried from my old phone. Right now, its almost empty with only some camera photos. If things get too heavy, I can just install apps on the memory card.

QUOTE(icp @ May 23 2016, 12:08 AM)
already 1 week using my 2gb model..
flawless and lovin it!
im a casual user only,no heavy apps like gaming..

AWESOME. Thanks for clearing things up. 2gb is indeed enough.
no problem~ as long as ur not asking money from someone else, it is okay to buy any phone, any brand,
any amount of RAM as long as u become a happy user

QUOTE(jagadis @ May 22 2016, 11:15 PM)
With 4 tabs on chrome and youtube, i have 400mb left. Assuming you have, 3gb Ram, what are you going to do the rest? Save it in your bank? I have a G4 as my main phone and it has 3gb ram, hardly pass 2gb even with some multitasking. Thats for me, I'm not a heavy user. Also have an old S4 with 2gb Ram, still running fine.
You are right but the 3gb version is not available online and some retailers are selling it for RM9xx and some even RM1000. So its not just RM100 more.

rclxm9.gif Hooray for 2Gb owners!
(i used both so not much different felt also, malas nak cakap banyak cingcongcingong)

QUOTE(megadisc @ May 24 2016, 01:08 PM)
yeah

2gb is fine as long as the OS can manage.
*
true indeed, OS plays an important role also.
i owned a tablet from a fruity company, 2Gb RAM on;y but still runs super smooth
optimisation is the key

but since MIUI is so heavy on RAM usage (so they say) i guess a bit of extra RAM is okay
i myself is on AOSP, i just feel uneasy with MIUI even after trying it for 1 months
with ROOT, better RAM management is available..

QUOTE(fatani @ Jun 1 2016, 12:22 PM)
I was from a redmi note 1. was looking for an upgrade.

My main requirements are dual sim, dedicated msd slot, better camera, bigger RAM/ROM, better battery, fingerprint, better screen, and otg.

It leave me with a few other limited options :RN3, lenovo k4 note, huawei 5x, those zenfones, and j7.

RN3: no msd slot, cam average
k4 note : ticks all the boxes except cam
5x: no otg, cam donno how good
zenfones : battery sucky2
j7 : screen no full hd. camera oso average. ram 1.5

In the end, although i didnt really prefer that brand, i opted for the K4 note. The camera still average though. well, so is RN3. If only RN3 offers dedicated msd slot, i would've opt for it in a heartbeat. dem u redmi mad.gif

People these days simple DIY also don't know how to do?

High risk my ass. I did it in 15 minutes by following this video:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0EsATxZbSjU

Easier than Pendidikan Seni Visual projects in secondary school lol.
*
that's the way. hahaha comparing RN3 with K4 Note? wahlaoeh u lupa 3300mAH vs 4050mAH lagi.
ROM upgrade-able lagi (coz snapdragon mah, ez tu flash custom ROM, banyak pilihan) unless u compare to the mediatek Helio x10 lah. but the Helio x10 is newer (and 'faster') than K4's MTK67xx

Must learn to use cloud/drive/etc.
Buy a OTG thumbdrive for a simple solution.

We need to unlock the bootloader for rooting purpose? Watttt
*
yes bro, the bootloader is a very2 important segment of the phone's memory.
some phone (samsung, lenovo) have the bootloader unblocked.
with the bootloader locked, it is safer and idiot-proof for normal "idiots" to brick the phone laugh.gif

Haha surprised to hear that because my old phone xperia Z rooting process is easy. I don't need to unlock the bootloader just use kingroot lol.
*

as i said, some company makes it easier.
should i re-phrase again? why not compare to apple, last time just visit jailbreakme.com and hit jailbreak (over the air) and it'll be done in seconds? or compare to windows phone, which doesnt require any root or what-so-over ahahahahah

QUOTE(AMDAthlon @ Jun 6 2016, 03:04 PM)
Yes and no. There are actually pre rooted rom that can be flashed with locked bootloader.
The problem is, xiaomi unlocking procedure is very hassle.Samsung also lock their bootloader but to unlock Samsung bootloader, just change at developer options straight away unlocked. No need wait sms bla bla bla.. This locking just implemented by xiaomi recently only but not done properly.  doh.gif
*

well, being old enough with android, EVERYONE knows there is always alternate ways to do things
i didnt wait for the unlock code, i unlock with flashing the fastboot method

The problem is on their end.

I refused to play their bullshit game so I unlocked unofficially in 15 minutes and flash AOSP rom.

Difference between AOSP and MIUI is night and day. Rom is lighter and less RAM consumption (1.8 GB free ram), everything feels smoother than MIUI, I'm also like the layout of things better (Hate how notifications and toggles are split into 2 different pages).

Oncce CM13 is ready, I will flash that too. Big fan of CM, the no.1, most popular custom rom in the Android world.
*

same thing here. satisfied. full potential of my android device woohooo

QUOTE(gogo2 @ Jun 10 2016, 10:20 AM)
Custom ROM always buggy. It may be fast. But not worth it.
Some more why you need to much free RAM?
Also, MIUI update is very good while AOSP need to wait until got developer do it.
Very marfan.
*

not worth it? of course, this is your personal opinion, right?

for me, my android device is free, and able to do things i like the way i want it, any way i want it
even had xposed installed, beautiful fonts, colorful displays.
customization to the max.
im satisfied with android, and faster. buggy? no such thing LOL

QuickPic allows pic to move to other folders. there is a "Move To Folder' option on it

but i usually move in bulk using ES Explorer
