I remember using Gravity Screen years ago, it would keep waking my phone screen in my pants pocket even when I calibrated the shit out of it, causing battery to drain very fast.

I'm using 7.3.2 too. I never use 7.1.8 so I don't really know how it's really work.

For me, 7.3.2 already so good. I keep on play game non-stop on 4G and battery life percent macam won't drop .. laugh.gif

If connected WiFi, switch to 2G mobile standby can improve battery life?
*
2G is using the least amount of battery, way less than the other setting because 2G is only 1 setting while 3G and 4G will make the phone keep switching between 2G, 3G and 4G causing huge battery drain.

Wife is not eating much battery.

Locking bootloader ia fine. Even Samsung, Motorola, Huawei also did it, but it's the METHOD to unlock is ridiculous. At least allow easier unlocking procedure without the need to wait for sms.
Like I said before, Motorola requires you to apply unlocking via website, which they will give you code instantly without the need to wait along with the steps to unlock. But Xiaomi choose the sms approval thingy which is a waste of time, troublesome and yet sometimes doesn't work using their tools doh.gif
*
its good so that the vendor want to do it for 1000s of their device will think twice.

Actually vendor can do it too and unlock, install vendor rom with malware, and then only sell to end user.

but because now you need to put in sim card, then request, it will be harder.

Also, you cannot put in same sim card because Xiaomi know something is wrong already.

If they plan to sell 100 phone with malware, they need to have 100 sim card to unlock bootloader.

I think what Xiaomi does is the best.

All hail Xiaomi.

Xiaomi phone is the best in the world.!!! icon_idea.gif rclxm9.gif rclxms.gif icon_rolleyes.gif thumbsup.gif

Many AP sets still come with vendor rom with spyware apps though, as evidenced by the postings on this forum, so I would say it's a failure step.
*
Vendor ROM are not kernel level. So i say it's a success.

Since vendor ROM is not kernel level, it is easier to remove

Not to argue with you, just sharing my experience:

My import set punya bloatware apps are inside system apps, which u need root to remove. Rooting needs unlocked bootloader, lol.

Even though the adware bloated vendor rom is not in kernel level, without root we need to flash to the original MIUI roms using EDL mode, which is not easy for beginners, or elderly users who are not familiar with the process.

Agreed

The problem is on their end.

I refused to play their bullshit game so I unlocked unofficially in 15 minutes and flash AOSP rom.

Difference between AOSP and MIUI is night and day. Rom is lighter and less RAM consumption (1.8 GB free ram), everything feels smoother than MIUI, I'm also like the layout of things better (Hate how notifications and toggles are split into 2 different pages).

Oncce CM13 is ready, I will flash that too. Big fan of CM, the no.1, most popular custom rom in the Android world.
*
Custom ROM always buggy. It may be fast. But not worth it.
Some more why you need to much free RAM?
Also, MIUI update is very good while AOSP need to wait until got developer do it.
Very marfan.

I use this in conjunction with battery saver and it cause instability.
After I disable everything, my phone is running rock solid. No bug at all.
