I want to upgrade my ram to 8GB and add an SSD. I dont even know if i have empty slots for that, but is it better for me to get the upgrade done by HP official store ? or would it make little difference if i go to any computer store and let them help me do the upgrading?
Usually laptop has only one slot for ram if i'm not mistaken. Does your laptop have warranty left? It will be better to take to technicians for the upgrade as some laptops need to remove quite a number of things before the ram slot can be reached.

if it's still under warranty, it's better to just send to authorized hp shops/service center and ask for help. if it's not, any computer shops can help you with that.

well a lot of laptops have 2 to 4 ram slots, depending on specs.

give me yor product number, i can check for u. btw, hp no longer has physical service center since last year dec.
nope. midvalley is just ACP (authorized collection/drop-off point). now hp is practicing onsite support for both consumer and commercial products, similar to dell.
last time used to be at hp tower damansara height.

hp will charge u a premium to do it. if u wan, u can pm me, we can meet up in lowyat and i do it for u. of coz, the parts u can just buy on the spot at lowyat. im ex-hp technician that used to base in hp tower.

not a problem though, HP warranty not that strict and there is no warranty sticker that would void it. i would suggest adding ram for now will be sufficient, change yor hdd after warranty expired will be better. they will void if there is water mark or physical damage to the unit only.
be sure to create hp recovery media to restore yor windows to the new ssd in the future.
