Well... i dunno... 2MP cam... might be better to be at least 3.2MP judging by the looks of its competition (i.e. N95, O2 zinc, etc... ) and wifi type "b" instead of wifi type "g" which are found in more recently released models.
But frakly speaking... for the features it can offer, its really worth every penny especially at the AP price currently being offered rclxms.gif
Kinda bored with my N70. Eyeing the P990i and the N95 in particular. But look at the price difference!!!!! sweat.gif
Just keeps me wondering if the audio output is good enough to sattisfy the average teenager. Noob audio junkie here. And is it possible to use the audio adapter as found bundled with walkman phones on the P990? Wanna use my original sony cans if possible cool.gif

Hey people. I've never used a UIQ device before. Been using series 60 all this while. Planning to get a P990i after my exams. Good idea to switch to UIQ or just stick with series 60? btw, how is the installation of apps in UIQ devices? is it the same as series 60 or is it similar to windows mobile devices where docking and pc sync is needed?

Thinking of getting an AP set some time soon. Just wondering if any AP users out there using AP set under warranty by "telstra" . I honestly havent heard of it (dont really know about AP companies except CSL whistling.gif ) . And are AP sets for the P990 reliable and identical as the thorus warranty sets? The current AP prising is really tempting me by the minute tongue.gif

Hmm... im just worried that the AP set might be errr..... not as "genuine" as the outhorised sets since the P990 is a smartphone (i.e. many sophisticated parts like wifi module, large lcd, etc... ) sweat.gif .
So far any AP users having any complaints? and can the AP users please specify their AP company provider. Thanks tongue.gif

Planning to get a P990i after my exams (which is in a few weeks time) to replace my 1 and a half year N70 tongue.gif
Just wondering if its a good choice to move onto the P990 since the AP price is so so tempting drool.gif
Need it as a music phone ( decent output as long better than N70 through headphones but not expecting it to be like the N91 cool.gif ) , decent cam, and need to long on to the net occasionally when im in a hotspot.
Comments please notworthy.gif

Yea well both phones are in differet leagues. Was considering either one of the two but then the n95 doesnt really fit my budget.... and several hardware problems really put me off with it. But no matter bout that. Back to my question. Will i be sattisfied if i bought the P990 as a satisfactory jukebox (just sattisfactory, doesnt need to be great like the N91) and to log on to the net once in a while?

Oh thanks for the tip aruja. Haha, dont worry. Aint looking at the N91 for now. Been using series 60 devices for the past 3 years. Already own a windows device too. So i gues its time to move on to UIQ for a change. Oh, another question. Is there a way to hard reset the P990 just like reformating a series 60 device using *#7370# ?

Hey ppl. SOrry to kacau again blush.gif
I need to be convinced one more time that i'll be happy after getting a P990 of my own. Wanna replace my 1.5 year old N70. Exams left one paper 2morrow. So hopefully i'll be able to get my new phone in a week or so tongue.gif
Anyway, reasons i would go for the P990i :
(1) wifi ( wanna log on and IM a bit if im in a hotspot)
(2) UIQ interface ( been using series 60 for quite some time. Time for a change)
(3) QWERTY and keypad combo drool.gif
(4) cam with autofocus ( i guess 2MP will do fine for normal photography)
(5) music!!!!! ( i hope its output quality through headphones are on par with the other walkman phones)
(6) AP pricing!!!!!!! biggrin.gif
I guess thats about it. Dont think i'll be doing a lot of heavy multitasking so maybe the RAM issue wont bug me a lot. I guess swiss manager and the new firmware should do the job.
Btw, any other suggestions? or will the P990 do just fine? Feedback pls. Cheers ppl laugh.gif

New user reporting in!!! rclxms.gif
Got it using the R5 firmware. Was real blur at first. Dont even know how to message with it. Still fresh out of the box. Havent even charged it yet blush.gif
Anyways, is it advisable to update it to the latest firmware? I dont have any problems with it so far.

P990i the best?? Dun really agree with that after using mine for bout a month. Yea its packed with features and wifi is really a great thing to have but the fact that apps dont close unless it is shut down in the task manager is a real let down. Swiss manager does rectify this but it doesnt when apps are open in flip closed mode, though the "clean up when idle" feature does get the job done but it also closes apps like the music player after a few minutes when no button is pressed blink.gif
But with the current AP prices...... gogogogo rclxms.gif
Or better wait for the P1 if UIQ is still ur thing thumbup.gif
