I'm planning to get M600i or W950i, but for those who use it, I want to know how its video playback capabilities. In GSMReviews it say that it can play video at 640x480 at 30fps. Can someone confirm this? I'm very concern about video playback since these phone don't have camera and I usually watching video on my current Xphone and W700i phone so I need a good phone for watching video

I would like to ask, between P990 and M600 which one is a better buy? Judging by this thread, looks like P990 have more problem than M600. I don't have high requirement, as long as it have big screen and being able to play music nicely it would serve me just fine.
But I was concern about M600 QWERTY keyboard, is it hard to master?

QUOTE(teikwing @ Jul 7 2007, 01:27 AM) the problem with P990 is just the firmware. big screen, able to play music? why don't u get the W950i? comes with 4GB internal memory & large 320x240 touchscreen. just lacks QWERTY keyboard. M600i's keyboard is kinda tough for your thumbs at first. took me nearly 1 week to really master it. but once you get used to it, you're GODLIKE. believe me. some might think it's kinda hard to press since 1 key has 2 sides sharing two alphabets but suprisingly..it's quite nice & comfortable to type on. even though with big fingers/thumbs. I don't like to have keypad tightly packed like on M600, probably I should buy W950, but I think I should wait for W960. M600 and W950 have a sweet sounding external speaker that's why I really wanna get one of these lovely babies

QUOTE(sonyclie77 @ Aug 5 2007, 01:08 AM) UIQ 3.0 is rather slow compared to other OSs, eg. S60 FP1 or WM5/6. But if you can get used to it, no harm trying. It's the most stable UIQ 3.0 device up to date. And, depends if you can bear with the scratch, I've not seen it and don't know how bad it is, and everyone has a different tolerance level towards scratches. So it all depends on yourself. Yeah I've tried it, quite slow, and I thought my W850 is slow. The scratch is about 3-4mm long on top right of the screen What is the software to make it faster? I been reading this thread for quite some time but I forgot the name of the software

QUOTE(sonyclie77 @ Aug 5 2007, 11:31 AM) Nothing can make it significantly faster as that's the way the OS operates. Maybe by installing Swiss Manager the device would be more stable, that's all. More stable? You mean its not stable in the first place?

QUOTE(sonyclie77 @ Aug 5 2007, 01:31 PM) SE launched 3 UIQ 3.0 phones last year, starting with M600, W950i and then lastly P990i. P990i was initially very unstable with frequent hangs and restarts, but this issue was solved in stages whereby the latest firmware was reported to be doing OK. W950i since launched is the most stable device, and during my days of using it, it only hanged on me once, that's without the installation of Swiss Manager to manage the memory. Oh good, you tested this phone already. It's rather sluggish in terms of performance, one question, in Walkman, does it need to tap twice to open the next submenu? Like from Artist > 'Name of artist' > 'Name of album' EDIT: I still not buying this phone, still thinking about it This post has been edited by Najmods: Aug 5 2007, 02:11 PM

QUOTE(sonyclie77 @ Aug 6 2007, 12:20 AM) Using Pop now mate. But I don't really listen to music on it. More of an organizer phone for me (M600i, already sold off my W950i some time ago). Yeah Pop sound real nice to me, but I use default I buy this phone not only for music alone, use it to watch video clip on it too

I've update my firmware to latest one, it took far longer than on my W850i. But it was hell of a lot faster than the previous one! Everything is very responsive now, I surprised what a firmware could do to improve performance! Looks a lot nicer too, the album art looks nicer, video is smoother

After five days with W950, I would like to say something about the phone, review or some sort
I was painfully slow to open from menu to menu, taking 1 or 2 second delay between them. The Walkman interface is nice, the visualization is both a bless or curse, it makes it a little slow when enabled but when disabled I have to watch the boring orange color, it would be nice if I can somehow change this. The song sometime doesn't sort out like what I wanted, it just sort out by names, title, and SMART (which isn't smart at all) etc. When playing new track it have a little bit delay 1-2 sec, and makes matter worse, sometimes the album art doesn't work
But with a firmware update it eliminates the first problem, slow menu to menu delay. It's even faster than my W850. The visualization in Walkman also respond faster but the delay when opening new track still there, so does the album art. The album art problem is eliminated when I transfer the file using Disc2Phone software
This phone restart itself three times, but all of them related to video, which the file is encoded using W850 profile in M3. Encoding them using W950 profile eliminates the problem entirely. The video picture also sharper after I updated the firmware. I tested various quality and time lapse, from 3 minutes video clip to 1 hour Top Gear video, from 250kbps to 550kbps bitrate, all work perfectly. Watching video on its huge 2.6 inch QVGA screen is very lovely, it can show great detail but the color is a bit off, because of the 262K color
One thing that I like about this phone is the 3D graphics performance, I download SPMark04 from Futuremark to test it and I simply amazed how smooth the benchmark run is, with crisp detail. Testing it with Asphalt 2 3D games also surprised me, no lag at all!
