ayam also a oneplus one user. soon will be 2 years old. on a custom rom now with SOT 6-7 hours. all my apps run fast. no lags/hangs at all. its just amazing!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-on...ussion-t3364099

So... as the title says I wanted to talk to you all about something really simple...yet powerful. For anyone who has tried jgcaap's CM13 rom you'll know that the OPO is capable of extreme performance, easily beating my friends Nexus 6p in both benchmarks and real world usage... But the question is why? (And in case you are curious, the antutu test my friend and I did came out to: OPO - 75,000 ish, vs N6P 68,000 ish.) Once I flashed this rom, I was blown away, while before I felt the urge to upgrade to something newer... after flashing I've been prevented from buying anything new 2015+ because nothing has performed better than my OPO now. It's like a Super OPO now!

I've used the Moto X Pure, the Nexus 6p, the HTC m8/M9, and NONE of them felt anywhere near as instant fast as my OPO running jgcaap's rom. Why is this? Especially compared to the SD808 and SD810. Did OnePlus just choose some magical super variant of the SD801? I've done various testing and some of the results were interesting, I noticed that the ram's r/w speeds on the OPO were are average twice as fast as the other phones I had tested. Interesting! I did not get a chance to test the internal r/w speeds but I presume that must also be a factor. The biggest difference is that everything on my OPO just "goes". It never hangs, everything opens instantly, and apps that require a longer loading time always finish faster on the OPO. I've even underclocked the OPO to a mere 1200mhz, and it still flies past the others. What is this magic?

What are your thoughts guys? Why does the OPO's SD801 perform much better than an SD808 or SD810? Do you all think it's just the processor? Or something else?

U know once the mention of custom rom, anything about reliability is invalidated right? It only means that stock rom made the phone not reliable. So go to HTC and tell them that they rigged their phones to fail. If you keep telling the world your phone is reliable and you have to do mods that 90% of the buyers do not, then its pointless fact.

My el cheapo Xiaomi nearing 3 years with stock rom and still in use is reliable. Thats a fact.

hey bro, cool la

stock rom like IOS also got updates isn't it. what are those updates for? same with custom rom isn't it. not all custom roms or stock roms are 100% fail proof. i am also using a stable custom rom which was full of bugs in the beginning.

Whats the point of using Android if you are just gonna stick to stock? Flezibility and customization is why we go for Android. Using custom ROM does not necessarily mean the stock one suck, but it can be improvise and add in more features. If your phone sucks whatever ROM you run also suck la, simple as that

No one gave me a choice. Windows Phone isn't bad, they're just unreliable. Just like who I vote for. The other people are not giving me a choice. I'm being forced to vote for them because the other guys are kind of clueless. They're trying though, and full points for that, but their reach exceeds their grasp.

Stock rom did have some bugs that needed to be fixed though, but no rom out there is perfect.

The original OPO is still one of the best mid-range phones to ever have been made so far. No regrets buying it.

U mean the millions of android users that buys android phones MUST flash new roms inside to make their phones to make it useful? And should u even need to pay RM3000 for a phone that you need to flash new rom inside so it can be classified as useful? Buddy, the majority of users are on whassap and games. These roms does nothing for them. Your main complaint is the software never met your needs. So you are only 1 guy out of 10000 other guys who does not need anything unusual for their phones. (I'll save it for the people who uses roms as their bragging rights).

It if improves the phone usability, yes that i agree. But reliability? No seriously? You are merely changing the look and feel of software. Try some roms that clock your processor higher and see if its reliable or not? whistling.gif

Maybe no obvious ones. Custom ROM has serious bu\gs like no WiFi, can't detect SIM card etc. Really showstopper ones. But stock usually works OOTB even if some weird bugs break some weird apps.

stock roms are also full of bugs prior to release, that's why they do testing. after release, there might be more bugs which creep up after some time. so normally updates are released to fix those bugs.

I'm referring to those buyers who actually chose Android over iPhone not the average majority who just buy Android from the influence of marketing gimmicks. Popular manufacturer like Samsung with the most buyer base are of course just your average users who have no idea what is customization and optimizing the phone but Oneplus users are majority knowledgeable in phone tweaking as they did not came to know this phone from advertising since they only advertise on social media platform. And I'm not saying all Android phones are good, I'm only saying the OPO is good so no, not RM3000 but merely RM1.4k that outperformed the RM3000. And mind you, flashing ROM are not just for the look and feel, it optimized the phone for a better performance as well. I can choose to overclock my phone or not, it's not an issue. Do you even know what is ROM or are you not familiar with phone tweaking at all because you doesn't sounds like you know what you are talking about

this is reproduced from the XDA forum:

ayam also a oneplus one user. soon will be 2 years old. on a custom rom now with SOT 6-7 hours. all my apps run fast. no lags/hangs at all. its just amazing!

So... as the title says I wanted to talk to you all about something really simple...yet powerful.

Either the rom is so good. Match so well with the hardware

Or

801 is the best proc ever created by qualcomm

i believe is due to jgcaap's modifications to the kernel. i've heard many good comments on this rom.
