Anyone know whether the 3GB for Surfmore 50 is the "improved" plan or there will be another improved plan?

Maxis hotlink came out new plan. Free 8gb a month, 2gb for each weekends. But 5gb for rm48 a month option is there. Call rates slightly better on surfmore.
Somehow overall better deal for prepaid at the moment than surfmore. Maybe surf more need to "downgrade" to prepaid?? Will wait and see what's the next best option |

Did mention this earlier. But think of it this way... Hotlink : RM38 3GB + 8GB over 4 weekends Surfmore : RM50 3GB Unless you are a heavy call user (which why the heck you are on Surfmore and not MOP is strange). Would there be a RM12 for calls? That's wiggle room between the two plans. At months I don't call much, I save. I'm looking through my bills, call usage is like RM5-6 at max. Let's say on Hotlink it is double, RM-RM12. At the moment Hotlink seems better.... but I choose to wait and see approach first. |

I'm still waiting for something better and testing umobile, just got a prepaid starter pack. |

QUOTE(HMMaster @ May 3 2016, 06:10 PM) Me too. Switched one principal and 2 supplementary lines to hotlink fast. I think it's good value taking the $38 for 3gb since I work from home using mostly my fiber line. The 8gb weekend free data and free data for social apps like whatsapp and maps and waze is also a nice option. Not to mention, Spotify premium is also included FOC as well for all my 3 lines My initial concern was the troublesome process to reload 3 lines if having to buy reload cards. However, just found out that I could also reload online on hotlink website so thats acceptable to me. The maxis CS was trying to convince me to switch to MOP but I wasn't interested. When she pestered further, I told her to just proceed with my request considering just two weeks ago, I was prepared to port to digi if not for the long queues at the outlet |

Especially during emergency cases, and you don't have enough credit to make any calls/sms. But now i prefer Apple Music I'm a light call user.... Hotlink Fast is the one for me all the way... why worry so much? top up RM100 for 100days validity... and let the data plan auto renew for you larhh and i did a testing. I switch to Hotlink Fast and only do RM5 top up and never buy any daily/weekly/monthly pass. Number is still within validity period but not ride on any data plan. But my phone data is still running on a 4G speed (starter pack free data all expired). Until i update the Clash Royale app, then i only receive a message saying my "Hotlink Social Data" was exhausted. I guess there is a backup data thingy even you exhaust your monthly pass (p/s: i can triple confirm it's not weekend and I'm not ride on any free 2GB weekend data) |

QUOTE(geek8585 @ May 4 2016, 09:08 AM) Spotify Premium for Hotlink Fast? Yeah, I I reloaded 100 into each of my lines and let them auto renew. The plan is to renew every two months via hotlink website to avoid the inconvenience of a reload card. My previous iValue simple Spotify premium, once i switch to prepaid straight away premium service got deactivated. But now i prefer Apple Music I'm a light call user.... Hotlink Fast is the one for me all the way... why worry so much? top up RM100 for 100days validity... and let the data plan auto renew for you larhh Yes, Spotify premium is included in hotlink fast. It was deactivated immediately when I stopped my postpaid plans but I could easily reactivate it from maxis Spotify weblink The only thing I'm not used to is the regular messages from hotlink after I make a call and it updates me of my balance remaining. |

Not only surfmore 50 folks, but if one doesn't need 5gb of normal data and doesn't make a lot of calls, hotlink fast $38 for 3gb or $48 for 5gb makes a lot of sense. After all, why pay 98 for MOP or nearly $50 to $60 more simply for the unlimited calls and sms facilities. To top up, can use online, it's simple straightforward nowadays. Download the Hotlink Red app. What's the charges for sim card downgrade from postpaid to prepaid? Is it RM25? Spotify is something which you think is a luxury but once you start using it, it can be a very sticky daily app. Maxis was every smart to partner Spotify to reinforce user loyalty to the telco No charges for the sim change from postpaid to prepaid. Change was seamless and quick at maxis center This post has been edited by kuntakinte: May 4 2016, 06:15 PM |

Do note that hotlink rates are charged in 30 secs blocks while surfmore in 1 minute blocks Technically, hotlink could be the cheaper call option Also, theres the activ10 feature where 10 of your most frequently called maxis numbers are only charged 6sen per 30 sec block |

I am on the legacy surfmore 75. Been a maxis customer for thousand years.
Several disadvantages - No free spotify - No upgrades to data limit Feel worthless being with maxis. |

I finally abandoned this plan last month and went for MOP 128 with 1 supplementary and 1 share sim.Several disadvantages - No free spotify - No upgrades to data limit Feel worthless being with maxis. Last time it was 10 GB, no free calls/sms = Surfmore75 (75) + 5GB monthly add on (50) + 2 share sim (60 but I have rebates so it becomes 30) + Spotify (10) for about 165 per month. Now its MOP 128 (128) + 1 supplementary (48) + 1 share sim (15) = 192 for 15 GB + Free Spotify + Free Calls. I'm tempted to replace the share sim with another 1 supplementary making it 225 for 20GB. That's 3 simcards that can make unlimited calls/sms that will share the 20GB data which I can then pass two to my parents. |

And you get the same amount of data (5GB) and unlimited calls/sms. Plus spotify premium. |

Btw, if you don't call/sms often, you can consider switching to Hotlink prepaid. RM48 per month for 5GB data and free 2GB every weekend.

Thanks for the suggestions, all with very good points. Looks like I'll need to re-evaluate my existing plan to one that is more efficient. In terms of calls, I don't really call a lot. Estimated just about RM10-RM15 more or less calls + sms. So I would be looking for a telco that provides better data coverage as opposed to calls or sms. (Though I would re-consider once VoLTE technology builds momentum) As it is my 5GB quota is struggling every cycle. MOP98 wouldn't be a wise choice for me. With spotify + my existing usage, that would mean that my quota would max out even sooner than before. CODE Will accessing the Spotify service consume my Internet quota? Yes, accessing the service will consume your Internet quota. Alternatively, you can use the Spotify service over a Wi-Fi connection. Note: MaxisONE plan 98, MaxisONE plan 128, MaxisONE plan 158 and MaxisONE plan 188 customers enjoy more than 15GB of free Spotify data till 30 September 2016 (not applicable for song browsing, which includes scrolling through albums and playlists with artwork) apart from free Spotify Premium access. |

Perhaps you should consider to port-in to DiGi Postpaid 78 ? It comes with 7GB data and unlimited calls. Anyway I approach it as 1) maxis or other telco? If coverage, data speed is crap no point. It varies depending on places you frequently go to. Office, house, hometown etc. Get a prepaid to test it out. 2) look at what you need (like what I mentioned) Look at how much voice calls you do (within network and external) How much data you need. Spotify is just a good bonus. Doesn't mean u need to use it. |

QUOTE(fluotone @ May 13 2016, 06:12 PM) Thanks for the suggestions, all with very good points. Looks like I'll need to re-evaluate my existing plan to one that is more efficient. 75+12 is 87, 11 shy away from 98In terms of calls, I don't really call a lot. If u heavy on Spotify, it's 10 from maxis That's just 1 away then And u have 15gb(for now) for Spotify so ur data is urs 98 is pretty much good for me now |

Been using Hotlink Fast. With the 2GB weekend. seems more than sufficient for my usage. With the free spotify, listening 5 hours, roughly uses 300MB. Not bad.
Regretted subscribing to 3GB RM38. Thought RM8 was a good value. Surfmore is a dead plan. This post has been edited by dreamthief: May 24 2016, 10:41 AM |

It's lte/4g for me.Surprisingly, the throttled speed during weekdays seem to be acceptable. Do try it before committing to a monthly data plan. |

QUOTE(HMMaster @ May 29 2016, 08:50 PM) If you are not subscribed to any data plan (excluding the 2GB free weekend data), the speed suppose to be throttled. I guess you'll still connected to 4G/LTE, but the speed will be slower. Oh... now i get it. It's throttled to 64kbps. There's free social chat, apps like wechat, whatsapp won't be too slow. only condition is for the line to be active. |

Went to Maxis center and changed to Hotlink Fast.
Immediately felt the savings as I purchased 3GB for RM 38. On top of that there's 2GB for weekend. Call rate is more or less the same. I suggest those on this stupid plan to change to Hotlink. Reason being: - You get rebates now and then (Free Data for reload). - No GST charges. - Garage sales offer reload for 3% discount, more savings. |

Goodbye RM50 for 3GB + RM9.99 for Spotify. Hello RM38 for 3GB + Free Spotify (well...until this promo ends anyways) + Free 2GB youtube >.< But seriously though... After being on postpaid for more than a decade it feels abit weird to be going back to prepaid |

QUOTE(HMMaster @ Jun 28 2016, 03:26 PM) it's different, let's call them "top up validity" and "active validity" for understanding purposes. badai talking about the 365 validity (active validity) which you pay RM33 making the line active. It continues on after the validity ends. The top up validity is upon the day you top up that you are talking about. You top up RM60, validity is 60 days and you still have RM60 credit, unlike the "active validity", credit is deducted to have the line active" |

i just call customer service. Surfmore 50 is no longer open for new subscription anymore from today onwards. even you change from Surfmore 30/any maxis plan to Surfmore 50 also Not possible. The Data upgrade only for existing Surfmore 50 user.
so for other telco port back to Maxis surfmore50 also not possible. |

Then they'd better do something about the MaxisONE plan. MOP98 will need to have at least 7GB monthly data.
