Hi all sifus, my friend has just bought a used Toyota Vellfire imported from Japan, the car is in very excellent condition. The only problems are with the built in head unit made by Panasonic:

1. It is entirely in Japanese (all display and voice)
2. The GPS map is only for Japan, so here in Malaysia it displays a totally black map and of course is 100% useless.

I'd like to know what is the best solution to make it usable for Malaysia (i.e. change the language to English and the map to Malaysia), other than to replace the whole thing physically?

I tend to think that this can be done easily by a firmware re-installation by Toyota Malaysia but since this car is not purchased from them, will they be willing to do it? Or has anyone done it before? Any other third party solutions?

Need advice......... TQVM!!

Change to different head unit bro. If he can afford Vellfire, im sure he can afford a good player. Anyway, check around if something can be done.

changing the entire hu should be the last option, because the current system has 4 cameras around the four corners of the car connected to it, when reverse, the images can combine into a 3D rendering of the surrounding area displayed on the screen, greatly helping the reverse and parking operations. If changing the whole system, can we loose this seamless integration?

Can we connect android-tv-box to vellfire 2013 GE multimedia system? Without changing the whole multimedia system. Does it work? As there is an AV Output in front passenger seat while the power supply from the cigarette socket (DC5V). Will this cause haywire to the car system? Pls share if it is work. Many thx
